Freeworlds (game)

  • Unofficial mod of Freelancer, only edited by an anon and three unknowns. Not notable in the slightest. --MarcK [talk] 14:19, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Thats an awful lot of effort. Is it somehow inaccurate? --Kosure 16:00, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm pretty sure this was copied from the Wikipedia article, where there isn't any question as to its notability. Anyways, the mod has gone through tons of versions and represents a significant effort. I think if we can include notable fanfilms and websites, we can also include notable computer game mods.-LtNOWIS 21:07, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't have any idea why one would even consider deleting the Freeworlds page. It's like an entirely different game; people have bought Freelancer just to play Freeworlds. Before anyone considers deleting it, I urge you to purchase the game and download the mod. Give it a shot. It is the game Star Wars RPG fans have been dreaming of for a long time. -Darnay

  • There are a lot of these fanmods of non-SW games which make them into Star Wars games, some of which have had articles on them on VFD before. We need to figure out what criteria to use to decide which to keep. —Silly Dan (talk) 02:54, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

  • I completely agree with Darnay here. We play the mod daily. if you dont know something properly you cant give your comments on it

  • Search for FreeWorlds on Google. You get 11,000 results. Since its release on the 18th of January, the latest version of the mod has had 19,839 downloads from lancersreactor alone. There is an article on galactic conquest - an unnofficial mod. There seem to be no plans to delete that. The article may require significant editing (for example, there is a lot of reference to individuals, which I do not think should be in the article at all - I just noticed there is a reference to me in there...) but it should not be removed. • Re: Silly Dan's comment. My idea would be "If the fan product contributes significantly to the Star Wars experience, that is, if it is either of great scale, widely known, or somehow unique, the article should be kept. If, however, the subject is little-known, and unimportant, it should be deleted." A nice rule of thumb I think is that if only members of or contributors to the product edit the article, it's not that important. --Erl 22:22, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
