Biker Advanced Recon Commando

Tam said "wrong, wrong, wrong! this page needs to be deleted, theres no such thing as a BARC trooper." and blanked it. Let's do this vote properly, shall we? — Silly Dan 13:32, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)

In the run up to Episode III, people assumed that the pilot of the BARC speeder would be the "BARC trooper" (an unhelpful action figure also encouraged this notion). However the Databank entry tells us that "The BARC speeder was initially designed by the Aratech corporation for exclusive use by the ARC troopers, the elite special forces clones bred to be more deadly and independent than their standard infantry brothers. The vehicle proved so effective in reconnaissance and scouting missions that it was adopted by the rest of the Grand Army, though it still retained its original designation: Biker Advanced Recon Commando speeder." No mention of a BARC trooper at all. They were used by the ARCs, and then by everyone. No such thing as a BARC trooper. It's just silly fanon. Tam 13:43, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Comment: Does the action figure still bear that name, though? At the very least, clone troopers on speeder bikes had their own type of armor. — Silly Dan 13:56, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)
  • Okay, this is the only "official" reference to BARC trooper that we have. That guy in fact isn't a BARC Trooper, he's a member of Commander Gree's 41st Elite Corps. In the film, we see them acting just like normal infantry would. In the Reversal of Fortune comic, we see Commander Bly's 327th Star Corps riding the BARCs, and in the film we see Commander Neyo's men riding the BARCs. So the clone troopers on bikes DIDN'T have their own armour, as we've seen at least three different types of regular Clone Trooper riding it (I think in the Free Comic Book Day Brothers in Arms we see regular clones on the bike, too). • Speaking for myself, although I'm the one putting the vfd page up, I suspect the correct vote is keep. — Silly Dan 13:32, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • Changing this to a weak keep, pending further discussion. — Silly Dan 13:56, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)
      • Flip-flopping worse than (insert name of a politician you dislike here), I now vote redirect to BARC speeder with the above explanation. — Silly Dan 19:48, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)
  • Delete, and I'll just go grab some proof from the databank. Tam 13:41, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)
  • Delete. I've never seen BARC Trooper mentioned anywhere, except on the toys. They did have different helmets, but doesn't prove they were different troopers. The BARC Trooper page is based on speculation. Furthermore, it doesn't tell us anything more than what we already know about ARC Troopers. Just delete it. We can bring it back if an author chooses to make the BARC Trooper canon at some point in the future.--Azizlight 14:47, 31 Jul 2005 (UTC)
  • Soft redirect to BARC speeder. MarcK 01:13, 9 Aug 2005 (UTC) Keep per new source. MarcK 04:35, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)
  • Keep. Star Wars Insider 83, p. 21, just threw a wrench into the "no such trooper" line of thought: "The BARC speeder is a swift reconnaissance vehicle that derives its name from 'Biker Advance Recon Commando,' for the specialized clone drivers that operate them." jSarek 04:12, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
    • There you go. Always a last minute save from the Insider. Keep per jSarek. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:15, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
  • Keep per jSarek-LtNOWIS 04:50, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
