Toprawa
Question, your answer to which may result in some formatting revisions: Are you taking any of the article's quotes from on-screen game captions?Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 21:34, April 13, 2018 (UTC)- Ayrehead helped address this. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 21:42, April 13, 2018 (UTC)
- Okay. I wish there were more captions in the game, but it's just the translated taunts. I see I apparently mis-heard the Fode quote (Several times, in fact). I further wish it could be clarified that the pilots were all speaking Huttese or not (Or that the other lines the pilots have were translated). Alas, no. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 22:58, April 24, 2018 (UTC)

There doesn't appear to be anything critical relating to Toy Dampner on that old Japanese Episode I racer site, as fascinating as it is to time travel back into the web like that. But I see there are multiple pages relating to specific characters and whatnot, so if there's a specific page that has Dampner info on it, that's what you should be linking to. Otherwise, it can just be removed.Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:34, April 26, 2018 (UTC)- He's listed on the character page on the third page. There's a blurb that roughly translates too "*"Toy" to participate in the pod race is never a toy. His pod racer is very well-balanced. This pod racer demonstrates its capabilities quickly in any race, and it has excellent performance without upgrading.*". Largely sounds out of universe as player tips. I figured it might be a somewhat relevant link as it's the official site (I can link to that page of the site), but if the site in general doesn't seem relevant I can remove it. Your call, I think. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 00:13, May 3, 2018 (UTC)
- No, the site and that information are perfectly relevant. I just want you to link to the actual page that has this information. Please replace the link with the URL to that third page with the character information. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 17:43, May 4, 2018 (UTC)
- Ah, okay then. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 15:00, May 10, 2018 (UTC)
- Is there any way for you to translate what this web page calls itself in the browser tab? Ideally, we would present that name, and I'm assuming it's not "Official Nintendo Japan Star Wars Episode I: Racer site." Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 04:25, May 19, 2018 (UTC)
- The text in the browser tab appears on the page itself, underneath the words "The Pilots." With Google translate, a more literal translation is "Introduction to pilots." The browser tab for the main page of the site is just "Star Wars Episode I Racer" (No colon after Star Wars). So, I suppose it the link could be written as "Star Wars Episode I Racer - The Pilots/Introduction to pilots (Page 3)." Maybe it's relation to Nintendo Power could be mentioned in parenthesis, if only for reader clarification. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 17:33, May 19, 2018 (UTC)
- I'm fine with what you've put there, except the page doesn't italicize the name of the video game, does it? If not, we shouldn't add that formatting ourselves. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:08, July 23, 2018 (UTC)
- The word Racer is italicized in the game's logo, which serves as the page's header. So, I guess I can do it that way. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 02:13, July 25, 2018 (UTC)
- I disagree with that. This specific page doesn't use the game's logo, so if it isn't italicizing the text, we shouldn't either. We should honor the page's formatting, regardless of whether the title is typically italicized. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:11, July 25, 2018 (UTC)
- Okay, that's fine. I'll just remove the italics then. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 22:14, July 25, 2018 (UTC)

In the intro quote, does the game's captions use three !!! like that?- Yes, actually.
If the P/T quote translates to "Careful, punk," as the audio file suggests, I think you should note that in the attribution.- Done.
- On second thought, I think it would be best if you formatted "Careful, punk." into {{Quotetrans}}. You could still mention in the attribution that he's speaking Huttese. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 16:33, August 4, 2018 (UTC)
- Yah, that does look better. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 20:19, August 4, 2018 (UTC)

- Done.
- I added a minor bit to the second BTS paragraph to clearly mention that the character was cut from the film. Please check if that needs a separate reference than what is being used for that paragraph.
- Should have separate referencing, as Dampner himself is not mentioned within that DVD special feature. Rather, we only see the Podracer, with the cockpit being obscured and thus unable to show if he or some other pilot was modeled into the rough animation (see here). So that Databank entry mentioning his appearance in the script is the best reference to use in regards to him being cut from the film. It's unlikely that by this point all pilots were assigned to their vehicles, so while Toy may have been cut early, his Pod may have made it farther without him. Given that we don't concretely know, though, the information about his Pod is still relevant imo, if you think that given this information, the bit about his Pod being cut should be scrapped from this article.
- Just source it to the film itself. That's essentially self-sourcing. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 17:21, August 6, 2018 (UTC)

- Is the info from the DVD special features in reference 8 not also included in 2011 Blu-ray (I honestly don't know)? If so, it would be best to use that, being the more recent source. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 16:48, July 30, 2018 (UTC)
- I don't have the Blu-Ray of the film. I can ask someone who does have it, though. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 15:57, August 4, 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, please do. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 17:21, August 6, 2018 (UTC)
- You don't happen to have it, do you? A Google search brought up that the Blu Ray carried over some interviews and a concept art gallery, as well as some new deleted scenes, but none of the other featurettes. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 23:28, August 9, 2018 (UTC)
- It's not my responsibility to look up sources for you to solve my own objections, but I'm going to be nice and try to help you out. I only say this because it gets really old, really fast having to look up things for everyone because they don't have sources. If you're going to nominate articles for status, you should expect to be able to check any source to address an objection. That being said, you need to tell me which DVD version you're using (the 2001 individual release, the 2004 box set, or the 2013 DVD/Blu-ray box set?) and also which section of the extra features you're looking at, because it's not going to be exactly the same in the Blu-ray. {{WebCite}} should be implemented for the first link in the External links section.QuiGonJinn(Talk) 16:17, April 15, 2018 (UTC)
- Forgive me for interjecting, but actually it shouldn't. Citeweb is only meant to be used for actual citations in the course of an article's Notes and references. It's been a common misconception among newer editors over the past year or so to start using the template anywhere there's an external link, but that's not proper usage of the template. For items in the External links section like this one, just add a backup link next to the URL using {{C}}. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 16:25, April 15, 2018 (UTC)
Grunny
In the intro: "Dampner became a favorite on the moon Oovo IV, where the race courses sped through the prison Desolation Alley. Dampner was considered to be the crowd favorite for the deadly Executioner course," This reads as if the Executioner course could be a different course on which he is the favorite, rather than the course in Desolation Alley. I think this could be written more clearly.- How's that? --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 00:13, May 3, 2018 (UTC)
In the intro, you refer to him as the "crowd favorite," but in the body you only refer to him as the "race favorite" and "track favorite." A "race favorite" or "track favorite" could just mean that they were considered the most likely person to win (such as when gambling on a race), but a "crowd favorite" is about their popularity with spectators. If they were the "crowd favorite," that should also be used in the body, rather than just in the intro.grunny@wookieepedia:~$ 18:25, April 26, 2018 (UTC)- I'll double check when I get back to my guides, but I believe they use the terms "crowd" and "track" favorite interchangeably. "Race" favorite is interjected by myself as a way to vary wording.--Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 00:13, May 3, 2018 (UTC)
- If "crowd" favorite is used in the source, I would make sure that is used in the body where appropriate, since it has a clearer meaning and more context than "race" or "track" favorite, so it shouldn't be only in the intro. grunny@wookieepedia:~$ 07:02, May 11, 2018 (UTC)
- 'Track favorite' I noticed seems to be used more in the game itself, so I just switched to that. Also added that he was the favorite in the bio now. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 23:20, May 14, 2018 (UTC)

With the GoG version out I've been looking at the audio files now and collecting new screenshots. The scripts for the pilots seem largely the same with some exceptions. All of it seems to be Huttese, which means most can probably be translated. I added a new quote to the P&T, which translates to "Careful punk." Do I need to translate that for the article? Or, just leave it as it is? Or does the spelling or meaning need sources?
I was thinking about adding new quotes to the other articles, and was wondering about trying to spell out some of the phrases, translating if possible (Slide's "Chuba pitdroid" is literally just "Hey you pitdroid"), or maybe being more vague like ""[Taunt]" - Pilot taunts a Pilot"--Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 23:20, May 14, 2018 (UTC)
