The first sentence of the "Role" section is kind of out of place. The section should talk specifically about duties, strengths, and weaknesses, not service affiliations. One way to adapt what you currently have is to re-frame it in the sense of talking about how the New Republic utilized the Ranger gunship. - Actually, I have a better idea. Unless she's saying that sarcastically or something, you should say "...the Ranger-class gunship was, according to Chief of State Leia Organa Solo (or whatever her title was), one of the newest and best starships at that time."
