  • We can date Galaxies to between 0 ABY and c. 1 ABY per this template, which I think should be added Lewisr (talk) 21:54, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

  • If the berries are consistently spelt as gin-jang in Galaxies then I'd treat that as an alternate spelling rather then an error. Ayrehead02 (talk) 09:18, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
    • They're only mentioned once, so I don't think there's really a factor of consistently vs inconsistently spelled within the game. Really there are three spellings (jinjang, jing-jang, and gin-jang) across what let's say are "primary sources" (both Ewoks episodes via D+ and SWG). I elected to rely on jinjang as the CSWE resolves the contradiction. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 10:55, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
      • But CSWE can't resolve the jin-jang spelling in the Disney+ subtitles since that came out afterwards, and it argueably appears in more sources then either of the other spellings since it's in two episodes. The CSWE also never actually directly refers to the berries as jinjang, only the shrub. Ayrehead02 (talk) 18:27, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
        • The point about D+ subtitles is fair - added. I do think, for the record, that I would feel comfortable using the spelling of the shrub to inform that of the berry had it been necessary. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 18:21, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
          • I'm actually not sure we should be using the CSWE to inform the name. We have two sources that provide explicit names for the berries and one that provides a name indirectly via the shrub. The CSWE spelling of jinjang should actually be the least applicable of the three with jin-jang as the most recent and most frequently used. Gin-jang berry was also technically the only spelling for the berry till 2021 so I still don't think it should be treated as an error. Ayrehead02 (talk) 10:23, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
            • I'm not disagreeing with that point, hence why I removed mention of the SWG spelling from the bts. Personally I think the way I have it now - with the article at "jinjang berry", and "gin-jang" mentioned as an alternate IU spelling - is fine. Thoughts?
              • The problem I have with the current article is that it's at a title that no source actually uses when there are two alternatives that are used by official sources. I think the article should probably be at jin-jang berries from the most recent source with gin-jang berries as an alternative and jinjang just used for the bush they grow on, which is what we actually have in the sources. Ayrehead02 (talk) 12:33, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
                • Alright, I'll concede that CSWE isn't the strongest source. I think between SWG (gin-jang) and D+ subtitles (jinjang in Battle for the Sunstar, which is better because CSWE; and jing-jang in Shrieks, which is the only instance of that spelling) I'd probably opt for the former though, no? Even though D+ is more recent I don't quite trust it. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 12:18, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
                  • Ok, since the Disney+ subtitles use jinjang berries personally I'd go with that, since I thought it was only CSWE that used that spelling. It's the most recent spelling and matches the plant's name. If you'd prefer gin-jang though I won't object. Either way I'd like to see a breakdown of all the spellings and where they're used in the BTS so that all the information we used to decide on the naming is clear to readers. • Okay, reworked the bts - sorry for any miscommunication and thanks for your patience. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 12:38, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
  • Thinking about it, it's probably worth adding the date for when the Disney+ subtitles were added given how much later than the show it was. You can use this article to reference it. Ayrehead02 (talk) 10:23, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
