RX-24

  • Nominated by: ~SavageBOB sig 16:18, May 6, 2012 (UTC)
  • Nomination comments: Barn Burner! This one proved a lot more research-intensive than I had expected, but it's been a fun ride. Expect more Star Tours before the end of the month. ~SavageBOB sig 16:18, May 6, 2012 (UTC)

Star Tours is just amazing
  • I'm not sure why ref [9] mentions the Alliance's transition into the New Republic. The only things sourced to ref [9] are "By 4.3 ABY" and "Rebellion era" --- the fact that the Rebellion is no longer the rebellion is irrelevant to what the date is. If you're looking to source the fact that it's New Republic rather than Rebel forces in Star Tours, then the words "New Republic" could definitely be sourced to that kind of explanatory ref, but I don't think that ref [9] requires an explanation at all. Just sourcing Leland's blog is enough to assert the date.
  • Ditto ref [8]. If 2 BBY isn't mentioned in the article, then the explanatory ref about the Corellian treaty is unnecessary. All that need be sourced here for "Rise of the Empire era" and "at some point before the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY" is whatever establishes the date of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue --- there's currently nothing in the prose that requires the 2 BBY explanation. Menkooroo 01:28, June 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • "He sat outside his crate for a time" --- any chance you could mention that he was still there when Star Tours Flight 1401 took off at some point between 2 BBY and 0 BBY, thereby establishing a more specific timeframe than "for a time?"
  • I've accepted that there are plenty of ways to link "Forest moon of Endor," but... Endor currently isn't linked anywhere in the body!
  • "RX-24 was a standard RX-Series model" is currently sourced to Scum and Villainy. Since that book isn't in his "Sources" section, I think another ref should be stuck somewhere in that sentence. Menkooroo 02:26, June 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • Since the article assumes that Reubens Robotic Systems is his manufacturer, and Industrial Automaton is only mentioned in the BTS, is Category:Industrial Automaton products still applicable?
  • Kinda minor, but are there any relevant sw.com articles for the "External links" section? A quick search found that this one mentions him, but I'll leave whether or not it or any others are relevant enough for a nod up to you.
  • Since the tale of the Wolfman and the Lamproid is listed as a "possible appearance," I think the BTS should discuss the implications of Rex potentially being in it --- ie, him fighting at the Battle of Endor.
  • All from me! Very well-researched and very well-written. I rode Star Tours II for the first time in March and I love love love that you nommed this guy. Menkooroo 16:59, June 21, 2012 (UTC)
    • Cool, thanks for the review! I've tried to fix things up. I think the explanatory notes in Ref 9 are necessary since we need to establish that those are New Republic, rather than Rebel, X-wings Rex flies with. To that end, I've added Ref 9 after the mention of the New Republic vessels. I could create a new ref for the other two uses of 9, but I'm not sure it's necessary. What do you think? As for Ref 8, the ref is there because no source has establish a firm date for Star Tours 2. All we know is that it's post-Rebellion-formation, pre-Yavin. I could remove the note about the treaty and 2 BBY, but that seems like taking away useful information, hence the ref. The IA/Reubens Robotic Systems thing is tricky. No source states Industrial Automaton had anything to do with Rex, but all the sources on the RX-Series droids state that IA manufactured them. I think we can thus duck test Rex as having some association with IA. Should I add them into his biography? As for the SW.com articles, I'd be happy to add some, but how can I search them if they've been taken down from the web? How'd you find the one you linked to above? The other stuff should be taken care of. :) ~SavageBOB sig 20:08, June 22, 2012 (UTC)
      • Yeah, if Industrial Automaton gets a category, it should be in the article itself, too.
      • In ref [8], the information about the Corellian treaty is completely extraneous to this article --- there's nothing that requires it as an explanation. If this article mentioned that Star Tours Flight 1401 took place after 2 BBY, the ref would be necessary, but "Rise of the Empire era" and "at some point before the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY" (the only things sourced to ref [8]) don't require the explanation. All they need is whatever Insider article dates Star Tours II at post-ROTS, pre-ANH.
      • With that said --- any chance you could use what's currently in ref [8] and provide an approximate date for Star Tours Flight 1401? :P No reason not to date it if we can.
      • Ref [9] looks good after "New Republic." I think a new ref should be created for the other two uses of [9] though, yeah, since they don't require the explanation.
      • For the sw.com articles, as long as you find one, you can (mostly) navigate your way through the old site. In the article I linked above, you could check out the related links in the scrollbox on the right or click on "keyword Disney" at the bottom of the article.
      • Any thoughts on the Wolfman one? Not seeing any change there. Menkooroo 20:28, June 22, 2012 (UTC)
        • OK, try that. I decided to axe the IA category, since we don't really know what the relationship was between RRS and IA. I think the stuff about the two dating refs is fixed, so please check! Also, can you help with the external link? I seem to have broken the page. There are quite lot of hits for the Disney tag, so it will take me some time to browse them for mentions of Rex, but I will do so in the next day or two. I'm fine with you waiting to strike that objection until I do so, of course. :) ~SavageBOB sig 12:22, June 23, 2012 (UTC)
          • No need to check through every Disney hit; a lot of them aren't related to Star Tours. One external link is good enough for me. :D Also, the link was broken because {{SWArchive}} needs to be used for anything from before the site went to crap. Menkooroo 17:07, June 23, 2012 (UTC)

  • Is Star Tours canon? Some of the events of the ride (like attacking the "Death Star" after the Battle of Endor) make it seem rather ambiguous to me.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 14:34, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
    • Yes, it's canon. And I'm gonna get to ride it in two weeks! :P MasterFredCommerce Guild(Whatever) 18:31, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
    • We have nothing to say it isn't, so that means we default to it being so, as far as I understand policy. Besides, RX-24's first flight is directly referenced in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, so that's definitely canon (specifically, it mentions the flight, the comet field, and the battle, although it gives no specifics). And you'll notice it's nowhere called a Death Star, at least not in this article -- it's a battlestation. I was very careful about that! ~SavageBOB sig 18:33, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
      • Didn't Leland Chee call it a "Death Star III"n though?--LelalMekha 18:47, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
        • He wrote "Death Star III?" with the question mark, so I don't think his blog comment on it can be taken as gospel in this case. ~SavageBOB sig 19:44, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
          • All right, just checking to make sure.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 20:08, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
