- To the sum of my knowledge, though I don't know about this man's adaptation appearances, however I see Menkooroo will help you out on those. Hanzo Hasashi 18:17, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
- I would have gone with "Unidentified Human with cup," but that's just me. NaruHina Talk

If it's his table that Evazan throws Luke into, chances are good he's in some of A New Hope's adaptations (comic, special edition comic, photocomic, manga, etc). As tedious as it seems, any film character --- whether protagonist or random background extra --- requires a check through said adaptations, even if just to yield several (Picture only) appearances. I can help ya out with these guys on that front.Menkooroo 02:48, September 7, 2011 (UTC)- I have the comic, but I might need some help with the others. Cal Jedi

- Cool tools. I have scans of a bunch of the other comics on my external hard drive, so I'll be able to check 'em for you tomorrow when I get home from work. Menkooroo 15:49, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
- Great, thanks. Cal Jedi

- Thanks for the patience. I couldn't find him in anything, but I found the Rodians in a few. Menkooroo 03:46, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

- Did you happen to see the above nom in anything? Cal Jedi
(Personal Comm Channel) 03:59, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- I'll check through some ROTJ adaptations today. I sincerely doubt if he's in any of 'em, but I'll look. Menkooroo 04:13, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, I'll need you to tell me where to look. Where in the Palace, and on the Sail barge, is he standing? Menkooroo 09:18, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- In Jabba's Palace, he's standing in the background when Luke is standing before Jabba and 3PO is talking about the Sarlacc. He's just standing in the background of the Sail Barge next to a type of window. Cal Jedi

- I would agree with Menkooroo's objection with all of these obscure characters you've done. Also, for the ANH characters, is sourcing 0 BBY really necessary, considering it happened the year of the Battle of Yavin? Not making that an objection though. Hanzo Hasashi 12:53, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with what you said about the ANH sourcing, and originally I had it sourced to the movie. But I had several users that disagreed, so I switched it. Cal Jedi

- I'm going to edit to just source the date to the film too. I'll leave the RotJ nom as is though. Hanzo Hasashi 18:17, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
- Okey-Dokey. Thanks. Cal Jedi

- You can't really source dates to the films because there are not dates ever mentioned in the films. ~Savage
12:21, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see why not. We source it 0 BBY (Battle of Yavin), and we know that the Battle of Yavin happened in the movie, so common sense would say that it would be 0 BBY. Cal Jedi
(Personal Comm Channel) 02:57, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
- I explained to you why not and you said you saw how it worked. We can't go by common sense, and I know that's phrased terribly. We know that KOTOR takews place in 3,946 BBy, yet we source it to the KOTORCG because the year is never mentioned in the source. Episode IV doesn't get a pass on that rule just because it's the epoch. That it's the epoch of any timeline would have to be sourced to something ese because the BBY system was established in 25 ABY. - I know that you explained it to me, and I still don't really have a problem with doing it like this. But then where do we draw the line on common sense? The new CT that just passed about the BTS was pretty much all about common sense, and if we can use common sense for that, why not for the years? Cal Jedi
(Personal Comm Channel) 23:34, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
- Too many quality articles about movie characters, events, droids, vehicles/ships, etc. have just flat out sourced the year to the movie as well. Also a similar debate is sourcing the names of other characters or whatnot not named in the films; some people in their quality articles have reffed it to the source naming them; others just the movie itself. Hanzo Hasashi 00:48, September 16, 2011 (UTC)
- An example of my previous point, some people would also source Evazan's name to something. IMHO it is fine as is though. Hanzo Hasashi 00:51, September 16, 2011 (UTC)
- I think that I would have a bigger problem if it was something from ROTJ, since it doesn't flat out say "Blah-blah years after Episode IV". But this is the movie where the Battle of Yavin happened. Cal Jedi
(Personal Comm Channel) 00:53, September 16, 2011 (UTC)
- You do make a good point. However, I found that there are no official rules against not properly sourcing a date regardless of movie. Nonetheless in the future if I ever get objections about year sourcing for a film article I will source to something, probably The New Essential Chronology. Hanzo Hasashi 01:00, September 16, 2011 (UTC)
- A note on Evazan: any article that sources his name to the movie is actually in the wrong. It's not even an issue of common sense. He isn't given a name in the movie. Those need to be fixed and sourced to something else. NaruHina Talk

- What do you think we should reference Evazan to then? Cal Jedi
(Personal Comm Channel) 00:02, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- As with any fact, just to any source that identifies him by that name. The Official Star Wars Fact File 51 or Star Wars Character Encyclopedia for example. NaruHina Talk

- Naru: That's not actually how we do things at all. Simply refer to... well, overwhelming precedent. Cal: Ref [3] is pretty erroneous, and is actually something I would object to. See here for some more discussion on it. Menkooroo 03:46, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- Wait, so I'm lost. :P What is the final verdict here. It seems like it's been switched ten times! :P Cal Jedi
(Personal Comm Channel) 03:55, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- Just some food for thought: If some Legacy character is lurking in the background of a comic, such as Oron Jaeger in Issue 23, an article can mention that he was there without sourcing his name to another comic. Conan Antonio Motti mentions Cassio Tagge without referencing something other than A New Hope, and that's just one of many similar ANH-based status articles that do something similar. I firmly believe that it's best to keep sourcing as simple (yet still accurate) as possible, and the current ref [3] just seems erroneous. Menkooroo 04:10, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- Sooo, bottom line is to source it to ANH again? Cal Jedi
