Odin Nesloor

  • Nominated by: --Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 03:07, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
  • Nomination comments:Since I'm not sure if I'll have much time to edit in December, I've decided to start my end of the barn-burner early. Fred hasn't transferred the BB page to the SH yet, but I'll add my sign up information as soon as he does. Hopefully no one objects to this early start, and here we go: Barner-burner 3: Project The Phantom Menace's first nomination!

  • Based on the comments in the visual dictionary, I think that this guy's appearance in the film is working in the garage before the podrace, not walking the streets of Mos Espa. There's also some general info about the podracing mechanics next to his picture in the visual dictionary that seems like valid info for this article. The Visual Dictionary is definitely more than (Picture only) for this guy. Menkooroo 03:32, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
    • I've added the info about him being in the garage, but I have to disagree about his mechanic aspect. The VD pictures him along with some other beings in the podrace section. IMO, that doesn't confirm that he was a mechanic. He could have just been wondering around the hangar at the time. And because it doesn't specifically mention any of the mechanics, I still think that it's still just a (Picture only). Does that make any sense?--Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 04:24, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
      • Not really, no. The info about the mechanics is text that accompanies pictures of him and three other people. It's basically a caption to their pictures. One would be hard-pressed to argue that it isn't them the text is talking about.

As far as (Picture only) vs. (Mentioned only) goes, I've always treated a picture & indirect mention-combo as a direct mention. A picture of Han & Leia with text only reading "Jaina's parents" would be a pretty direct mention of both Han & Leia, IMO. That's my interpretation and isn't set in stone, but the Visual Dictionary is, at the very least, an indirect mention for Odin. Menkooroo 07:49, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
        • As for the first part, you're right. I guess I just got a little overzealous in my battle against speculation. :P I've added that he was a podrace mechanic at the time of the Boonta Eve Classic, but that's about it. The paragraph that accompanies these mechanics says that "often" they are experts and they are "largely" unsung geniuses. IMO, this sounds like it could apply to some, but not all of, the mechanics. Since it doesn't necessarily say that "the above mechanics were geniuses and experts," I don't think we can say that Nesloor was an expert and a genius. As for the Po and Mo thing, I've changed it to Mo. Even if it hasn't been made a rule, that makes sense.--Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 20:29, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
          • (Mentioned only) doesn't belong in a "Sources" section. There's some more info that can be gleaned from the Visual Dictionary, too. As I said above, the info about the mechanics is a caption to the photos. Those are the Humans that the text is talking about --- even if you can't say that Nesloor is necessarily a genius and an expert, you can say something about him without ignoring the info. The info implies that he's potentially an expert mechanic, and the article can still reflect that without falling into assumption territory. Maybe mention that he's part of a garage team that includes expert mechanics and unsung geniuses, for example (kinda like what I like to do with Unidentified Imperial Knights). And that his Human-ness prevents him from piloting a podracer. It's all good info for a Personality and traits section.
          • If he's a mechanic, you'll need to add a new category.
          • I think there's a bit more that could be said in Behind the scenes, too, specifically about the miniature. It seems important to mention that it's a Dark Hellion Swoop Gang member. I think there's enough info to be added all-around that this would be more at home on the GAN page. Menkooroo 06:31, November 21, 2011 (UTC)
            • See what you think about the changes I've made. If you or anyone else have no further objections at the moment, I'll move it on up to the GAN page.--Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 01:52, November 22, 2011 (UTC)
              • GAN that man! Sorry if I was a little harsh. You did a good job. :) Menkooroo 09:17, November 22, 2011 (UTC)
                • No worries! Thanks for the review. :) --Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 15:16, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

  • A quick thing to think about: There is a miniature from Bounty Hunters called the Dark Hellion Swoop Gang Member that looks like he is based on this guy's appearance. What do you think that should be done about this? At the very least there should probably be a behind the scenes note.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 03:21, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
    • Just from what you've said, I think the best thing to do would be to just place a BTS note about it. Even in real life, there are many people who look like one another and are two separate people. But, do we have any pictures of this particular miniature so I could take a better look at it?--Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 03:25, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
      • Here is an image of him that I just uploaded.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 03:38, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
        • Okay, thanks. I'll add that to the BTS.--Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 03:47, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
