  • The mention in the 24 ABY document seems noteworthy in the article itself. That the battle is still being talked about 4000 years later would definitely fit into some sort of "Legacy" or "aftermath" section in a bigger article. Menkooroo (talk) 19:39, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
    • I had thought of that, but I didn't really feel like it was very notable. It's pretty much a general history lesson about the Mandalorians. He wasn't really talking about this battle, per say, but was running through the events of the Wars, which would be expected in a lecture specifically on the Mandalorians. Added anyway—see what you think—and it's at 198 words, so I may as well try drafting an intro while I'm here.
      • I think you could actually cut quite a bit out of that second paragraph. Just getting across that he mentioned the battle in his keynote speech is important; detailing the rest of the speech seems pretty extraneous. So, my challenge is: Cut it down to one, straight-to-the-point sentence! Menkooroo (talk) 04:21, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
        • Done, my good man! NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 04:32, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
          • Is the intro still necessary? It's only 164 words without it, and currently the intro is basically the same as the pre-legacy section of the body. Menkooroo (talk) 04:33, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
            • I would leave it were it another article, but I planned to just kick it over to the Battle of Azure if you approved of the legacy rewrite since that would just work out well. Remember, intros are by definition repetitive and on 250 word GAs, they just naturally end up being rehashes a lot of the time. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 04:38, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
              • That's the thing, though. There's nothing necessitating an intro in this case since the article's 164 words, and if needless rehashing can be avoided, it should be. Menkooroo (talk) 04:43, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
                • Doesn't matter. Leaving it would have the article follow the LG, which is never wrong and, really, it's technically what we set out to do. I tend to follow the mantra we had when we started the CAN when Rule 14 arises: "If an article can be a GA, it should be," so I leave the intro in so it's close in a reasonable sense. Rule 14 will place an article within 10-20 words of GA length, so it will probably only need to be mentioned once more to be moved up. Leaving the intro streamlines that. Also, you're thinking that intro was final, which it wasn't. I just busted it out and would have revised/shortened it any way I could shortly. At max, the article was about 258 words and a rewrite of the intro would have probably brought it below the threshold. Anyway, I ended up moving the intro to Battle of the Exodeen system, where it will be further revised before seeing this page again. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 05:59, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
                  • I think you're overthinking this. This article falls well outside the range of "if it can be a GA" --- the intro echoed the body rather than summarizing it (it was the same size as the part of the body from where it drew info), and it only brought the article up to about 220 words at that. Trying to pad this up to GAN length resulted in an ungainly intro that was way too long, and it didn't look good at all. That was the issue. Menkooroo (talk) 06:32, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
