  • Not to be a party-pooper, but I'm pretty sure this article shouldn't exist. The various drafts of ANH used a lot of real-world terms to describe things --- Han Solo, for example, is called a tough James Dean style starpilot in the third draft, but that doesn't mean James Dean exists in the Star Wars Universe; it's just something real-world to compare to for reference's sake, and Art Deco almost certainly is too. Admittedly, the fourth draft is closer to the finished product than the third draft, but it also references Big Band in order to give some idea of what the Cantina Band sounds like.
    • Do rough drafts of the movie scripts even have a place in canon? OLIOSTER (talk) 11:46, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
      • No, but the link that Morrt provided in the article seems to identify the revised fourth draft as the finished script, so I guess it's... possible? Menkooroo 11:49, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
        • I think it is the final script. There are only minor differences from the film, some words in the dialogs. The non-dialog sections are trying to be in-Universe, one of the several exceptions is the Art Deco. I know that the mention of Art Deco is probably a kind of error, however, I consider this script having the same level of Canon as the movie novels - just a step beneath the films. Am I not right? Darth Morrt 14:24, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
          • I'm pretty sure you're not... sorry. Keeping in mind the references to Big Band, and James Dean in an earlier draft, I think it's certain that the non-dialog sections aren't trying to be strictly in-Universe. I think this page should be trash compactored, but it might actually be a better candidate for speedy deletion. Sorry. Menkooroo 23:57, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
  • Also, C-3PO's appearances list is anything but complete... Menkooroo 11:42, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
    • I will try to make it complete. Someone has an ongoing C-3PO project, maybe his list is complete. Am I right that Art Deco appears only if we see a 3PO or Art Deco is directly mentioned? Or any novel appearances of any 3PO and of any similar-looking protocol droid are also appearances of Art Deco, like every app. of Mos Eisley are app. of Tatoo system? Darth Morrt 14:24, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
      • Heh, that's me doing the ongoing project. And, truthfully, saying something like "I'll try to make C-3PO's appearances list complete" is a very, very, very tall order. As for the question about visual appearances vs. novel appearances... I don't really know, actually. Menkooroo 23:57, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
  • Prepare to be savaged...
    • I would say that the "art deco" mentioned in the script is an out-of-universe note to the producers of Star Wars, not an in-universe descriptor. In other words, i think this article should be completely rewritten as out-of-universe, if we have it at all... ~ SavageBob 01:15, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
      • Sorry to cut in, but we shouldn't have articles on OOU notes to producers that appear in scripts. If we did, James Dean would have an article, even if it was a "cut content" article because he was mentioned in the penultimate draft of Star Wars's script. If nobody objects, I think a speedy deletion tag should be stuck onto this article. Menkooroo 01:43, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
        • OK, it should be deleted. There is an other article, that may be also deleted: Alderaan Senate. I've created it, and it is also from the non-dialog sections of the Forth Draft. Altough, Alderaan Senate is surely not a production note. Darth Morrt 02:19, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
          • Oy. I'll slap the delete tag on. Sorry to crush your dreams like this... :( :P Make sure you request that this nom be removed. I would think Alderaan Senate is probably just another name for the High Council. Menkooroo 02:22, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
            • Where should I request the removal of the nom? Darth Morrt 02:40, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
              • Right here, baby! But I guess you kinda just did. Menkooroo 03:59, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
