We Can Do It! was a propaganda poster created by the Rebel Alliance. It depicts an image of Leia Organa, one of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance, standing in attention in the outfit she used up to the Battle of Yavin and declaring the title of the propaganda. At the bottom the Jedi Order insignia can be seen, alongside the phrase "May the Force be with you."[1]
Behind the scenes
This poster is based on the iconic "Rosie the Riveter" poster from World War II, created by graphic artist J. Howard Miller for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation to inspire the company's workers. In the early 1980s, Miller's poster emerged in popular culture as an image of female empowerment.[2]
