A water war was fought on the planet Cona many years before the Battle of Yavin. Cona was a desert world whose surface was devoid of free standing water. The only source of water for Cona's Arcona inhabitants was the underground gastric pods that were used by Cona's flora to synthesize and store water. Arcona nest communities would cultivate plants for their water pods and construct mines to harvest deeper ones. Two Grand Nests fought a long and violent war over Cona's scarce water resources. This war increased the thirst of their hive communities and made it unsafe for homesteads to harvest water.[1]
