Walter Velez was an American painter and illustrator. He was born in East Harlem in New York City, New York, United States[2] on November 28, 1939,[1] and he died on August 24, 2018.[2] For the Star Wars franchise, he illustrated The Star Wars Book of Masks, a pop-out mask book[3] published on October 12, 1983,[4] and How the Ewoks Saved the Trees: An Old Ewok Legend, a picture book published in 1984.[5]
