The Walin'or cell was a cell of the Alliance to Restore the Republic[1] that originated in[2] the Walin'or system of the Mid Rim's Shiwal sector.[3] Approximately five standard months before[1] some point in 2 ABY,[4] the Alliance agent Patel Odfath had in his possession several high-security datafiles that contained details regarding the operations of Alliance cells in the Shiwal sector as well as the Cademimu sector[1] of the Outer Rim Territories.[3] At that time, Odfath was captured by the bounty hunter Lu'daal-ud, whom the Alliance believed had kept the datafiles. The possibility that Lu'daal-ud would then sell the files to the Galactic Empire was estimated by the Alliance to endanger the lives of almost a thousand operatives active in the region ranging from the Walin'or cell to the Tierfon Rebel Outpost[1] in the Expansion Region.[5]

Behind the scenes

The Walin'or cell was mentioned in Alliance Intelligence Reports, a 1995 sourcebook for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[1]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Walin'or cell in relation to the Walin'or system.
