Waita Tar dance

The Waita Tar dance was a celebratory ritual dance performed by the Wookees on Yavin. The dance involved torches, yodeling and the females moving in a circle around the males.

After Annikin Starkiller impressed the Wookees with his martial prowess, he was welcomed that night by a Waita Tar dance.

Behind the scenes

The Wookees were renamed "Jawas" in the first draft revision, though this was later reversed. The notion of a celebratory dance and fire ceremony was written into Episode VI, with the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village.
