- "But Old Republic records chronicle the Vultar Cataclysm, an event in which the activation of an artifact known as the Cosmic Turbine destroyed that system. I suspect this Turbine was of Celestial origin. Unfortunately, gentlemen, travel to the Vultar Nebula is interdicted."
- ―Edited transcript of the debriefing of Doctor Insmot Bowen
The Vultar Nebula was[2] a part of the Arrowhead region in the Slice portion of the Core Worlds.[1] In 4250 BBY,[3] a group of Dark Jedi activated a set of machines that were thought to have been used by the enigmatic, long-disappeared Celestials to construct the Vultar system. The activation of those devices, however, destroyed the entire system,[4] leading to the creation of the Vultar Nebula. In 1 BBY, the Obroan Institute for Archaeology researcher Doctor Insmot Bowen participated in a Galactic Empire debriefing on the Celestials and noted to the Imperial authorities present that travel to the nebula was regrettably interdicted.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Vultar Nebula was originally meant to be mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart; however, the section that would have mentioned the nebula was cut before the book's release. The information regarding the Vultar Nebula was later released in 2013 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Del Rey editor Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Vultar system, and therefore the Vultar Nebula, in grid square L-10.[1]
