Vulagools were a non-sentient species of diminutive, hunched bipeds commonly found on the planet Alderaan during the era of the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. The species was believed to have not been native to Alderaan, with some researchers theorizing that vulagools were once a sentient species that was driven to near extinction and enslaved by Alderaan's native Killiks during their era of expansion thousands of years prior.[1]

Other scientists believed that vulagools were the descendants of Killik Joiners who had been driven from their nests after mutating unexpectedly. Regardless of their origins, vulagools seemed to both hate and fear the Killiks, and actively avoided them. Although they were normally scavengers, packs of vulagools were known to be able to bring down larger animals.[1]

Behind the scenes

Vulagools were created for the 2011 BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic as hostile wildlife on the planet Alderaan. However, they were ultimately cut from the game's final release, though the Codex entry associated with them remains in-game under the "Lost Knowledge" category.[1]
