Vinyor Tesh had a father who was a male researcher working on the planet Manaan. During the Devastation of Manaan, he was killed along with his partner by the invading Imperial forces. His young son was saved by a visiting Jedi named Laotah, who took the child to Coruscant to be trained at the Jedi Temple.[1]

Vinyor Tesh's father was mentioned in the Codex entry for Master Vinyor Tesh in the 2019 expansion Onslaught to the 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic by the company BioWare.[1]
