The Vile Grotto was a cave located in the Nightmare Lands on the planet Voss. During the Galactic War, five Voss commandos—Vara-Sol, Akana-Tok, Norus-Wel, Chalak-Ka, and Suvar-Ton—defied Voss law and entered the Nightmare Lands, only to be driven insane by Sel-Makor. Physically enhanced by the region's dark energies and capable of commanding corrupted beasts, the group took up residence in the Vile Grotto, from which they spread the Nightmare Lands' corruption. As a result, the Voss recruited outsiders to enter the Nightmare Lands and kill the corrupted commandos.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Vile Grotto appears in the 2011 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, where it is the site of the Imperial Heroic mission "Darker Than Dark."[1]
