- "Four days into the jungle now. Glad I bought that vibro-machete."
- ―Dexter Jettster writes in the Smuggler's Guide
Vibro-machete,[2] also styled as vibromachete,[3] was a type of machete. It was one of the most common vibro-augmented blades on the galactic market. Designed and sold primarily as an agricultural tool, each had a long, single-edged, cleaver-like blade between 30 and 45 centimeters long. The weight and balance of the blade combined with the long cutting edge made it perfectly suited for clearing undergrowth in dense alien forests and jungles, butchering large animals, and countless other wilderness tasks. The vibro-machete also made for an excellent weapon, the heavy blade and vibro field emitter making short work of unprotected and lightly armored opponents.[1]
History
Sometime prior to 10 BBY during the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Besalisk Dexter Jettster brought one with him when traveling to the world Athus Klee in order to investigate rumors of illegal cybernetic modifications being made there. Jettster used the vibro-machete while trekking through jungle for six days and wrote in the book that would eventually become known as the Smuggler's Guide that he was glad that he had brought the device.[2] The Knight of Ren Ushar wore a vibro-machete in a sheath across his chest.[3]
Behind the scenes
A vibro-machete was mentioned in the 2016 Star Wars Roleplaying supplement Savage Spirits, which was published by Fantasy Flight Games.[1]
