"No, Executive D'gaat, your mine will produce only Level-001 quality Vendusii Crystals, of that there is absolutely no doubt."
―A Svivreni mineralogist[4]

The Vendusii Crystal was a type of crystal[4] and amorphous gemstone[3] that originated in[2] the Vendusii system of the Mid Rim's Vendusii sector.[1] Vendusii Crystals could be obtained in mines, and their quality could be expressed in gradations such as Level-001. At one point, a highly skilled—yet very stubborn—Svivreni freelance mineralogist who was active several years after the formation of the New Republic[4] in 4 ABY[5] appraised the potential of a mine owned by the executive D'gaat. The mineralogist disagreed with D'gaat and confidently claimed that only Level-001 Vendusii Crystals would be produced by the mining operation.[4]

The Vendusii Crystal was introduced in Heroes & Rogues.

The Vendusii Crystal was first mentioned in the 1995 sourcebook Heroes & Rogues, authored by Rick Stuart and Paul Sudlow and published for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[4] Vendusii Crystals later appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[3] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6]

In the game, Vendusii Crystals were a type of resource that could be used by crafters to create items. Vendusii Crystals were one of the many types of amorphous gemstone that could be obtained by harvesting the soil of the game's worlds. The type of gemstones collected during harvesting was determined randomly, and all varieties of amorphous gemstones were interchangeable and had similar characteristics. Like other resources in the game, Vendusii Crystals were only represented visually as a generic crate of resources.[3] In the real world, crystals and amorphous solids are mutually exclusive categories of solid matter;[7] nevertheless, for example, the misnomers "lead crystal" or just "crystal" are also sometimes used to describe lead glass, which is a type of glass[8] and therefore amorphous and not crystalline.[7]
