A veldt was a plain located in a particularly hot climate. They typically supported more life than cooler grasslands.[1]
Veldts were the natural habitats of early death dogs.[2]
Behind the scenes
Veldts were first mentioned in Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas, a book published in 1993.[2] Lucasfilm employee Leland Chee, who maintains the Holocron continuity database, has indicated that information contained in the book is non-canonical.[3]
In real life, the term veld, sometimes spelled veldt in English, is a generic term used to define certain wide open rural spaces of Southern Africa.
