As a child, Vaylin displayed an immensive display of power that scared even her father. To control her, Valkorion send his child to Nathema, where she was subjected to a brutal mental conditioning. When she eventually was allowed to return, Valkorion presented her as a gift a lightsaber[3] with a yellow blade and a hilt bearing Zakuulan ornamental motifs.[1] Vaylin used this lightsaber during her service as a High Justice to both her father and brother Arcann who succeeded him as Eternal Emperor. She used it rarely however, relying on her immense strength in the Force, which caused her lightsaber combat skills to become somewhat lacking.[2]

During her pursuit of the escaped Outlander, Vaylin ignited her lightsaber after cornering her foe, only to turn it back off, confident that she wouldn't need it.[4] She used it to duel her mother on Asylum, only to be surprised when Senya managed to disarm her.[2] When the Eternal Throne was taken over by SCORPIO, Vaylin burst into the room with her lightsaber at the ready, only to turn it off when SCORPIO explained her motives and allowed Vaylin to claim the Throne as her own.[5] Seeking vengeance against her mother, Vaylin tracked Senya to Ord Mantell, where she ambushed and dueled her once again.[6]

SCORPIO became Vaylin's advisor and helped her stage an assault on the Gravestone, during which Vaylin used her lightsaber to intimidate captured Alliance members, but ultimate resolved not to use it.[7] During the Grand Festival of Empress Vaylin her brother Arcann reemerged after healing from his injuries, and Vaylin dueled him to defend her claim of the Eternal Throne. Afterwards Vaylin returned to Nathema, which was a Void in the Force. Surprised by being unable to access the Force, Vaylin has to relied on her lightsaber to defend against mutated acklays in Jarak's laboratory.[8] Vaylin soon met her fate on Odessen, where she engaged Arcann, Senya and the Outlander housing her father's spirit in combat, only to have her mortal form struck down.[9]
