- "Ever notice how some people always seem as fresh as Jovarian sun ferns, even after the most demanding day? Or what about those who brave the heat of Varadan's twin suns and never seem to perspire?"
- ―Advertisement for the CSC-5000 body glove in the fiftieth-anniversary edition of Galladinium's Galactic Datalog of Fantastic Technology
Varadan was a Mid Rim world of the Senex sector. It orbited two stars and was very hot. Controlled by the aristocratic Ancient Houses of the Senex-Juvex region, it served as a mining world and employed enslaved labor.
Description
Varadan was a world located in the Varadan system of the Senex sector, a part of the Senex-Juvex region in the Western Reaches portion of the Mid Rim. Situated in the the sector's area known as the Tangles, it was connected via hyperlanes to the Kamur and Usnia systems. Varadan orbited a binary star and was intensely hot.[1]
History
At some point between 0 ABY and 3 ABY,[3] an advertisement for the Kamperdine Clothing Specialists' climate-controlled CSC-5000 body glove in the fiftieth-anniversary edition of Galladinium's Galactic Datalog of Fantastic Technology made a rhetorical inquiry of whether the datalog's reader had noticed individuals who did not appear to sweat despite enduring the heat of Varadan's suns, with the implication that such people were using the CSC-5000.[2]
Inhabitants
Like the rest of the Senex-Juvex worlds, Varadan was under the control of the region's aristocratic Ancient Houses. It served as a mining world and had the reputation of being one of the harshest sites of enslaved labor in the Senex-Juvex.[1]
Behind the scenes
Varadan was first mentioned in Galladinium's Fantastic Technology, a 1995 sourcebook authored by Rick D. Stuart for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed it in grid square L-18.[1]
