Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

Var Narek's father was an Imperial who was cheated out of becoming the governor of Livien Magnus by Ellor Orgraal. This caused Var Narek's father hold resentment towards him because Ellor Orgraal let other people rank up, and so Var Narek, his son, had limited opportunities in the Empire.[1]
