"Varé Malago died when he stepped on the loose end of some TIE bomber power trunking—it was beneath a couple of centimeters of sand but left him burning like a torch."
―Rey mentions Malago in her survival guide[2]

Varé Malago was an individual who perished on the desert planet Jakku after standing on the loose end of a TIE bomber's power trunking while its solar panels were still collecting power. Despite the trunking being covered by several centimeters of sand, it set Malago on fire.[2] By 34 ABY,[1] the scavenger Rey mentioned him as part of a warning about approaching TIE vessels in a survival guide that[2] she[3] compiled while living on Jakku.[2]

Behind the scenes

Varé Malago was mentioned in Rey's Survival Guide, a 2015 replica journal written by Jason Fry.[2]
