VP-8R was a bodyguard droid who served the pilot Vane Sarpen during the High Republic Era.[1]

Behind the scenes

VP-8R was created for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project and was set to appear in the first issue of the comic series Star Wars: The High Republic, written by Cavan Scott. The droid, however, was ultimately cut so the issue and series could focus more on the relationship between Padawan Keeve Trennis and her Master, Sskeer.[1]
