Addition to FA criteria

Don't you think any decent article in wookipedia should have a behind the scenes section (let alone FA)? --UVnet 19:00, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Blocking

Why did you block me as The One Sin? i didnt do anything wrong. I read youre thingy about the ip address but i didnt do anything. "say nite nite" wasnt a very nice comment also. The One Sin

I dont go on Wiki just so I can make Userboxes either, I have acutally writen and revised at least 60 Articles for Wiki (although my tenseing and spelling isnt very good as you can see) but I still contribute Articles and add information. It may not be cool info. people want to read about, but it's still part of the Star Wars Galaxy. You on the other hand have barly written anything to contribute to Wiki, made stupid boxes and said you had the most then said mine were stupid, and ranked yourself in Battlefront 2 on your bio (like anyone cares). Mabe you should get rid of that and make it into a box, or do you only like stupid ones?     • From what I understand, it should be possible to ban IP ranges. I'm not sure who has the ability to do this, though. I don't know if it's just Angela, or just Riff and WhiteBoy, or all admins. But according to this page on Meta, somebody can do it. You'd just need to go here to see which AOL server group the vandal is coming from and block it for a day or two. —Darth Culator (talk) 22:46, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

        • Most of our vandalism does stem from AOL users: because of the stupid proxy system, they can get away with it more than non-AOL users can. By the time we block the first IP address, they are on their second or third. We ban IP addresses two and three, and they may be on their fourth, etc. The thing about this is that it has the side effect of well meaning people being blocked from the wiki as a result (as few as they might be). That range block is sounding more and more attractive by the second, but I don't want to use it because I'll probably screw it up somehow. StarNeptune 02:13, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

    • It's not hard to get yourself a new ISP. Personally, I think ISPs like AOL should be completely banned. Vandals (sp?) can easily hide behind it's proxy system and good users (like you, maybe) get punished. So, if your American, give Yahoo SBS a try or something :) Jacen Solo 15:49, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

    • That's not likely to actually happen. It's just something that people have joked about on various forums/websites since the beginning of time. Jedi and categorizing

I noticed you put back the Jedi character category I removed from the Zekk page. I did it because Redeemed Jedi is a subcategory to the Jedi char cat. In my opinion there's no sense in listing a character in two categories if one of them is a subcategory to the other, but I'm not quite sure about the conventions here. Take Jedi Masters for example: if a character is listed on this category, it won't get listed in the generic Jedi category. But is it the same with, say, Jedi Generals or Wild Knights? I'm currently making a category check on the Jedi pages and I asked about this on the Community Portal talk page, but didn't get a whole lot of answers. Maybe you could clear this issue for me? --Tinwe 09:17, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Hmm...I do see your point. My concern was that people would wonder why he was not listed in Jedi characters, but if this was applied to all Jedi in Redeemed Jedi, this may not be a problem (I noticed while browsing that a few are still listed as being in both cats).     • I understand that removing the Jedi character category may cause confusion on some pages, but I think it is easily fixed the way you suggested (and the way I've been planning to do all along, I just needed someone to give me his/her blessing :). So is it ok if I remove the generic Jedi category from the Redeemed Jedi pages?
On a totally unrelated note, do you have an idea why the Category:User sw-2 isn't working the way it should? It only shows Adamwankenobi on Riffsyphon1024's names, even though I'm sure a lot more people have the template on their pages (including me). --Tinwe 19:00, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Go ahead, and keep up the good work. :) About the category: The category will only update when people update their userpages. Deleting

Droids

Not to bother you but why did you delete Template:Droids and Category:Wookieepedians who support Droids? They weren't harmful to Wookieepedia and those were for users who supported droids like me. Please restore them. MyNz 19:42, March 20 2006 (UTC)

  • We had a userbox template reform, and any template that has less than 5 people using it gets deleted. I will restore it for now (to give you time enough to copy the code onto your page), but I will be deleting it again in a few days. StarNeptune 19:50, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

    • Say you wanted to create a subpage called FUBAR, what you would do is add "/FUBAR" at the end of your userpage in the address bar, and press enter. You should then come to a page that has the title User:DarkShroud/FUBAR. You can then edit it as you please. Another way to do it is to make a link on your userpage: You would type [[User:DarkShroud/FUBAR]], then you can either preview your page and open the link in a new window, or save your page and click on it from there. Stupid vandals, and stupid blocking system

  • Hi StarNeptune :-) There's a bit of a problem with blocking User:62.253.64.14, in that it also blocks HavetStorm - he has emailed me about it, so I unblocked the IP address. Our vandal has been persistent and has been blocked again. I don't know what to do :-( You'd think there'd be some sort of "safe list", so that legitimate Wookieepedians don't get blocked because of a vandal's actions.     • Does the block only affect him occasionally, like in the case of an AOL user, or does it completely cut him off? Since it's not an AOL IP, the only things I can think of that would cut him off like that is that his sibling(s) or friends is messing around on the site without his knowledge, or he's on a shared network (i.e a cybercafe or school network). If that is the case, then I don't think there is anything we can do but give temporary bans so as to not harm Havet. Perhaps at the next Mofference, we should discuss the ban situation and maybe hash out a plan for situations like these. :) StarNeptune 13:40, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
      • I don't know much regarding AOL and it's IP system but can't Havet use something like the-cloak.com or some other proxy system. This would allow the vandal to be blocked and still let Havet edit (i hope)Phillowe88 22:48, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
