Sith Names
This post is especially for all those who have failed to notice the refrences between Sith names and the "dark" trait that most fits them. *Note* this only works with the Dark Jedi who have taken on a "Sith Name." Ones such as Exar Kun do not follow this as they did not take a "sith name."
Sidious- Sinister or insidious referring to plots and acts of deception
Maul- to maim or brutally damage in an aggressive fashion (hello its his name people)
Tyranis- tyrannical and oppressive
Vader- invader or invasion suggesting the slaughter of enemies and the ruthlessness of the hunt
Bane- a scourge or "bane" to the enemy
Revan- Revenge and aggression
Malak- Malice or cruelty
Bandon- to abandon or desert
Sion- war of Zion (meaning massive slaughter or bloodshed)
Nihilus- (possibly refering to Ni hilus) meaning instability and absorbtion of energy (or life)
Vectivus- invective (of or related to insult or abuse)
Andeddu- possible derivation of undead (also possible derivation from "addendum", because he has kept himself alive even after death)
Plagueis- plauge (obvious enough)
EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULES
Caedus
- NOTE* Caedus is the only sith to not follow these rules because both the authors of the Legacy of the Force series, and the person who entered this name in the "Darth Who" contest, failed to notice this rule of the sith.
- However, no doubt unknown to its creators, caed is an early Welsh word which translates as battle. Karohalva
- I've noticed the Darth Caedus discrepancy as well. "Caedus" has always reminded me of "Caduceus", a symbol of healing and restoration. Not really a Sith-like name. Ajrand (Signalbook)(Logbook) 02:16, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I think Nihil also means "nothing" in Latin. I'll leave that for people to speculate on. Hobbes15(Tiger Headquarters) 03:32, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think you should add Darth Vectivus, Fett. His root word, invective, fits the rule. Ajrand (Signal) 17:46, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Good job. I chose my name "Darth Fulmenus" before reading it, and I believe it fits your rules. "Fulmen" in Latin means "lightning" or "crushing blow". I think the rules for names for Sith is something we all know deep down, but need to be reminded my a user talk like this. Thank you for the insightful information on each Sith name. Darth Fulmenus
- I agree with you on the caedus theory. When they chose his name, I Looked up the name and attempted to find a dark meaning, and was unsuccsesfull.
P.S.- Cool name, fulmenus. That would have been much better than "Caedus". 74.186.151.239 23:24, 3 September 2008 (UTC).
- I came up with two Sith names that I think were kind of cool(unfortunately I learned of the contest to late to enter them) Darth Trayten (who debuts in my story) he is named Trayten as he has betrayed the Jedi order for his "Higher goals". and Darth Ravenous (who is also in my story) his name comes from Ravenous meaning unquenchable and unending hunger, and of course as such he is extramly talented in Force Drain. NON SITH NAME CHAT STARTS HERE***
Your Story
I liked your story preview, but the one thing I noticed was the mention of stone in the alley. you should probably explain that it was a stone in the wall of the alley, because not all alleys in the Star Wars galaxy are made of stone. But that's very minor edit, so far I think it's a great story Togrutalover 16:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC) Also, is your main character a descendant of the Mandalorian exiles that settled on Tatooine after the Mandalorian Wars? Answering my questions
Thanks for the responses on my questions, and now that im going over Path of Destruction, i do recall the mental block. I thought it had more to do with them being twins, but that makes sense. As for the Mandalorian versus Jedi, i was assuming that the average mandalorian most likely could not defeat the average Jedi Knight, though there are exceptions, such as Canderous Ordo, Boba and Jango Fett, and possibly Beviin, all Mandalorians who could, or have, slain Jedi. Though the Mandalorians sure gave the Jedi a good fight in the Wars. But one question still stands, could the Star Forge conjure up weapons, such as turbolasers, on its hull for defense as a World Devastator can?

Yeah, I like the trivia, and I think I know alot, but probably not as much as alot of the other guys on here. I tried out the Obsessed with Star Wars thing, and it's pretty good. I don't know if I would spend the money myself for it, but it's good, lots of intersting questions.
Quick Question...
Hello... I just noticed your awesome signature and was wondering what the format was to get that picture of the bantha skull on there! THANKS! <~Kg®imes2~> 21:38, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- For some reason, it isn't working cause when you posted on my page, it cane up as the emblem itself. Could you please just break down the code into a couple paragraphs or something so it doesnt show up as an emblem on my talk page? Thanks!

How did you move all of that stuff to you archive page? Because I tried and I couldn't figure out how to move anything. Togrutalover 00:17, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Re:
- I'd say that you pretty much have to write the majority of the article or a substantial portion of it, say at least 33%, before use of that userbox would be merited. I certainly wouldn't claim to have helped feature an article unless I had written that much content for it—otherwise, practically everyone in the edit history could claim to have "helped promote" the article to FA status. While it would be technically true, letting everyone who made a few tweaks display that userbox would diminish the accomplishment of the user(s) who actually did most of the legwork—for Horn, that's Havac, albeit often under an IP due to connection issues. In the case of Corran Horn, which has a net article length of 330 KB, we're talking 110 KB of content. That's around 5 times as much content as your user page, to put it into perspective. Furthermore, I did some investigation and found that most of your edits were at least partially reverted, meaning that you really didn't do a whole lot overall. I would suggest that the next time you feel "as though I earned it", to think about how much work you've really done on the article instead of finding ways to claim credit. Cheers.
