Hibernation sickness

Nice edit, I'm new to editing, so your changes showed me the expected style, mine was real bad looking back. Thanks! Mislaav 17:52, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

TCW Appearances

You voted to keep the Appearances section for TCW TV series stating it was your idea to keep the Appearances section? I thought you were thinking it needed to be removed, per the discussion. Was just curious and wanted to ask in case you had mistakenly cast your vote in the wrong section. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 18:41, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

  • My God, I clicked edit on the wrong section. Thanks for the catch! Mauser 18:44, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

New SWREP scans

Mind if I ask from where you scanned the cover art for these comics? Great scans BTW. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 18:53, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Well, I didn't scan them myself - I downloaded them using torrent networks. How bad of me! =) Mauser 18:56, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
    • How do you think I get my HD screencaps for TCW TV series ;) Which torrent site? What do you use as your "search" criteria? - JMAS Hey, it's me! 19:13, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
      • I must admit, I really don't remember: I had those comics on my drive for a long time, I just decided to crop out the cover arts this morning. It must be one of those big "Complete Star Wars comics collection" files which is several gigabytes big - the one that had the scans of the TPBs with extras such as cover arts inside, but I really can't remember the site I downloaded it from as my collection is formed by selecting best versions of different scans. Sorry =\ Mauser 19:22, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
        • No worries. Your collection and how you collect them sounds very similar to mine. LOL - JMAS Hey, it's me! 19:23, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

A slave now, a slave forever

Hey Mauser, thanks for the Sep Council review. I don't (sadly) own the comic, so I was wondering if you could tell me the gist of the Council's involvement. Thanks! —Lucius malfoy7 20px (Give it up for Lil' 'Soka Tano, ladies and gents!) 23:38, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

  • There's quite a lot going on actually. Miraj Scintel is identified аз a member of the Council, due to her actions in the previous issue Sidious demands that Tyranus performs an "effective demonstration" on her to show other members of the Council what happens when they show too much iniative. She also uses her position on the Council to make a few deals concerning slaves. I think that you still need the issue to describe the events up to FA standards though. Sorry about that whole mix up. I searched for the variations on the names before making the page and nothing came up, so I made one with the correct spelling. It wasn't until you redirected one that I found the other, and I thought it prudent to redirect to the one I made, as it had all the same information but with the correct title. Game screens

The image I replaced in Neimoidian Gunnery Battalion was used on another page, so it wasn't in danger of being deleted as unused. Let be honest, that article has little chance of being promoted to anything close to GA or FA quality. Therefore, I thought it would be good to have more variety, showing three distinct variations of the Battalion members. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 04:40, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Well, if the image itself stays, then I presume it is okay. Hovewer, the battle droid should stay as the movie still, of that I am certain. MauserComlink 04:42, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
    • It's not a movie still. It is an illustration from a reference book. I know, because I scanned it. And if you look at the image fully, it's a bit grainy with JPG artifacts. That's why I reverted that one. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 04:46, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
      • Well, it is still based on the live-action depiction of B1's & OOM's, so assume it is the more accurate depiction. But if you really want to use the new images, go ahead, I just think that those two look worse than the images used before them. 04:53, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

RFB

Mauser, I have to thank you. Your consideration of and support for my nomination meant more than just a vote. You've come to be seen as a crusader for reason on the site, and plenty of people look to your lead for guidance, myself included at times. I couldn't have done this without users like you. I look forward to working further with you on the site. Graestan(Talk) 03:15, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Clarification

If an image is used on the userpage of the original uploader, tag it as a user image rather than for deletion. We just want to delete orphaned images that were formerly in the article namespace. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 14:26, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I just realized that right after your second reply on the forum. It was a bit hasty, so I stopped tagging them. Sorry for any possible problems. MauserComlink 14:37, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Question

Would you accept a nomination for rollback rights? It appears to me that you would make use of the ability, and it seems like an oversight that you haven't been nominated already. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 16:49, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Of course, I would consider it to be a honor. MauserComlink 17:09, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
    • Well, you never know how people will react to this kind of thing. There's at least one guy who's been refusing adminship so long that I just want to deputize him against his will. Anyway, nomination is up. I'd wish you luck but you won't need it. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 17:50, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Veracity of game guides

I was wondering just how you felt about the canoncity of game guides. I know that there was some problem over with the R-1, Mark IV, R-4, etc. recon droid articles at one point during my long period of wookieevacation, and I'm sorry for that. But do you think that game guides are reliable enough to be used as sources?

Personally, I think that only minimum information is reliable from game guides (which is only the names of weapons, equipment, and units) but they're nevertheless canon sources as long as you don't dive into the gameplay portions. Cyfiero 21:54, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Absolutely. They are completely legit sources whenever they speak about IU-info. Gameplay stuff of course should not be mixed with that. MauserComlink 22:30, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
    • Thanks. Cyfiero 22:37, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, those are both definitely new VTfanon. If you would like to do the honors of starting the TC, you have my support. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:04, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Also, I've just closed your TC about the Star Wars Graphic Novel Library. If you would care to handle the merging, it would be appreciated. Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:16, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Verify

Hey, I saw you added the Verify tag to the neuro poison article. Since that article does have appearances listed, you might be looking to add the {{Fanon}} tag. Toprawa and Ralltiir 01:39, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

  • I added {{Verify}}, because both appearances seem to have nothing to do with the subject of the article. Tatooine Ghost features some toxin, but it is used by Imperials, no mention of CIS. And I honestly can't remember any toxin in the Battlefront II. MauserComlink 01:48, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
    • The Fanon template still sounds like your best bet. Verify is for articles that have no appearances and are pending deletion if none are added within a week's time. Toprawa and Ralltiir 01:49, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Military Engineer

Hey Mauser. The information for that article came from page 44 of the CWCG, where it has a three paragraph section titled Military Engineer, and I created the article to get rid of a redlink from memory. Bao-Dur, Raith Seinar, and Wat Tambor are listed under section called "Examples of Military Engineers in Star Wars". However, having read the entry again, I agree that it should be merged with the general engineer article, as there is nothing too specifically different. Thanks Mauser :-). • I'm sorry. I suppose I could have talked to you first before I reverted it. But if you look at both uploads side by side, I think (hope) you'll agree, the less-bright image looks more dull and less vibrant than the one I adjusted the brightness/contrast on. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 14:48, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

User images

If an image is only used on a user page, then it is a user-image, whether that user uploaded the image or not. It doesn't matter who uploaded it, as long as the user isn't violating the user image policy of three userpage-only images, which the individual in question is not. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 17:00, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

  • On second look, it does appear as though this user has 4 user-only images, not three as I had first though. But rather than mark, all the images for deletion, the user should be given an advisory on their talk page, linking to which images are only displayed on his user page. I'd recommend giving them a week. If after a week, they've done nothing to remedy the situation, then mark them IFD for the reason of "user exceeds user image policy" or something like that. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 17:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Sometime ago I asked Culator about that topic. He replied that images used exclusively on userpages but not tagged with {{user-image}}, should be marked for deletion as long as they aren't used by the original uploader. The reason for that is: they are basically orphaned images formerly used in main namespace, but now they are practilally unused. Since they weren't intended by uploader to be userpage-exclusive, they should not be kept. You can actually check his response here. There's also no point in warning the user, because he is obviously long gone judging by his contribution list. So, for now, I'll revert your changes again. MauserComlink 17:31, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
      • I believe you. No worries there. However, he is over-stepping his bounds on the matter. If you look at the actual user image policy, it states nowhere that the image must be used by the original uploader as a user-image. As the policy currently stands, if one single user is using the image for their user page, whether or not they uploaded it for that purposes, or uploaded it period, and they mark it with the user-image tag, then it shouldn't be marked as IFD. I think we can both agree on that, it is site policy after all. However, in this case, I won't revert the images again, however, the 6 months or so that the user has been AWOL is by no means indefinite. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 17:42, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
        • Now that we agree on it, let's look at it from another way. User image policy says that any userpage-only image not marked with Template:user-image should be listed for deletion. Sometimes we can fix this issue by simply adding the template when it is obvious that the uploader indented the image for his userpage. However, images that were previously used in mainspace as well but not remain only on userpages should not be marked with the template simply because they were not intended solely for someone's userpage. Therefore they should be listed for deletion, at least that's the way I see it. MauserComlink 17:54, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
          • I see it from your point of view also. Given the 9 month siesta, let them go. If he were still actively editing within the last couple weeks, I'd have suggested just sticking with my warning and giving him a week. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 18:00, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Re: A request

Sure, I'd love to. I don't have the time immediately right now, but I can get back to you later today and leave whatever I have on your talk page. It's great to see that you're stepping out there. :) CC7567 (talk) 17:06, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Here we go:

  • I think that the intro can be slimmed down. It's a bit disproportionate, and unless details such as a comparison of him to Han Solo are utterly necessary, they can be removed. For that one, Solo can be introduced as his "old friend". Try to only keep details that are the most important and that are necessary for the reader to understand the character.
  • Depending on your addressing of the above stuff, this one may or may not still be an issue, but this sentence is a run-on: "Despite stealing money from the crime lord, Batross still owed him a debt which he could not repay, so he offered the Aleena to retrieve the droid, which Sollima believed to be stolen by the Empire, in exchange for his debt."
  • Careful about overlinking; Sollima was linked several times in the intro instead of just once. I got what I saw, but you should check for this on your own.
  • "Parked" can be exchanged for a term with more length; it currently sounds very temporary, which I'm not sure if it's supposed to be.
  • "he offered Batross help to get into the Imperial Academy as well": I think this can be reworded a bit for better clarity and flow.
  • "Sollima's accounting droid discovered this, and to cover his tracks": bit unclear who "his" belongs to, since it can also mean the droid in this case.
  • "The Imperials were planning to use the information inside the droid's data core against Sollima, in order to gain access to his casino world named the Hollow Moon, which they could not do by sheer military force, since the moon was located in the Khorya system of the Hutt sector and the Imperial authority in that region of the galaxy was weak at best." Run-on; please split and reword somewhere.
  • I'm tending to see a bit of an overuse of the word "named"; can some be substituted for different wording or different phrasing?
  • "In a desperate move, he offered the Aleena to retrieve the droid": unclear as to who "he" is; also, do you mean "he offered to retrieve the droid for Aleena"?
  • "Batross offered Solo to raid the Empire's acquisitions and processing center on their way out for easy money": here also, the word "offered" isn't being used quite correctly in diction; please check this again.
  • I think "counterparts" can be used a little less; it can be used where it's his counterpart, but counterparts as a subject by itself sounds like they're two parts of a machine.
  • "Batross offered his companion to visit some of the gambling world's casinos first": same issue with "offered"; please check.
  • "got angry" needs to be changed both because it's colloquial and because it's already been used earlier (which I reworded).
  • "The discovery drew away Sollima's attention for a time enough for Batross to activate a bomb hidden inside droid's former data core and throw it at two gangster's bodyguards, both of whom were killed in the explosion." Slight run-on, and it can also be reworded to flow better.
  • Unclear what "the space" means.
  • "Being to busy with establishing control over the Hollow Moon": umm...what? Please check this.
  • "Batross was not as successful in any of those things, as was his old friend Solo": unclear if Solo was successful in "those things", or wasn't successful, "like his friend".
  • What kind of effect did Solo's speech have on Batross?
  • "During the escape from the Hollow Moon throughout the Imperial blockade": two prepositional phrases that don't help the flow; please either reword or pick one over the other.
  • I would recommend going through the P&T again; some of it seems to be a simple restating of events rather than reflecting on Batross's personality. Some of this can be fixed by rewording it to talk about his traits more.
  • The people mentioned in the Bts can use a little context in relation to Batross.
  • The last sentence of the Bts needs to be reworded, as it's a bit of a run-on.

Other than that, it looks pretty good. Once it's nominated, I'll also give it a run-through there to make sure it's ready. Very good work for your first nom, Mauser. :) CC7567 (talk) 21:39, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

That doesn't mean that your name will be removed from the "Participants" list, but it means that any of your current projects will be removed from the project page so that others have a chance to work on them. Likewise, if you currently have any projects under your belt, I highly encourage you to review them, and if you don't plan on working on them within the next two or three weeks, I recommend reconsidering them. Agents of Deception

The new wallpapers on the SWGTCG website - the one of the trooper attacking a speeder - what card/kind of trooper is that? It looks like some sort of Darktrooper, or Novatrooper or SpecOps trooper. As you are a player of the game, I figure you're the best one to ask. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 00:10, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

  • The card with a trooper attacking a speeder is called Protective Armor, the card with Palpatine is called Order 66 and the last one is called Elite Dark Trooper. In fact the two troopers on those card look very much alike, but this is likely due to teh fact that they were done by the same artist. MauserComlink 00:16, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Stang

Looks like the stang article was deleted and merged with the List of phrases and slang to make room for some minor character. Most of the users awake at the moment see that as a bad move, especially since it eliminated a long list of appearances. Not to mention most people looking for "stang" will not even know about the minor character. I'm tempted to just set things back the way they were, but first I thought I'd drop this message and ask how committed you are to the change. Seems there's a lot of strong support for going back to the way it was. Enochf 20:49, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Question

Hey Mauser. This is more of a consumer question than a Star Wars one, but since you seem to have all of Slaves of the Republic, I'd thought I'd ask you. I'm trying to get all six issues at once, and I know that the TPB version costs less and is probably a better choice, but I'm concerned about having to wait till November (and thereby having to update a lot more articles at once). Would you recommend that I buy the separate issues or the TPB version if time is my concern, not so much money (although the latter is still somewhat a concern)? Thanks in advance. Star Wars: Behind the Magic

Hey Mauser, I saw your objection for Moradmin Bast and I'm not familiar with Star Wars: Behind the Magic. Have you read or seen any Bast-related information in this CD regarding the cut scenes of him in A New Hope? JangFett Talk 17:14, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

  • I'd be happy to check when I get home from work if you doesn't have access to it, Mauser. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 17:48, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, JMAS, but I think I managed it myself =).
Star Wars: Behind the Magic actually has many bits of information relevant to Bast. He does not have his own entry like Dodonna or Piett, so he is instead described within the category called Imperial Officers (which also covers Motti, Tagge, Needa, Ozzel etc). He is portrayed in several screenshots from the film, as well as production photos. Most interesting is the fact that Cassio Tagge's biography erroneously gives him the role of Bast, saying that Tagge was the one who offered Tarkin to evacuate and was later killed along with him. However, another section, which describes the objects seen in the film frame by frame (very similiar to Visual Guides) correctly identifies the officer as Bast, some bits of his biography from the CCG card are also repeated. Also, an except from the shooting script is given, where Bast is identified only as an officer. Which reminds me - you must also check all scripts and drafts of the ANH to check if Bast is present in them. Sorry, but that's what a movie nom means.
Now, concerning the deleted scene. Before I say anything, the information I have comes from the Deleted Magic - an unofficial fan-made documentary, which cannot be used as a proper source. However, it features the entire deleted non-Bast scene, taken directly from Holiday Special. The original dialogue from the movie (Bast informs Vader that Millennium Falcon has escaped from Mos Eisley) is present only in the form of subtitles based on the shooting script, because the lines were overdubbed to create a new dialogue for the Holiday Special and the scene cannot be seen anywhere else.
While we're at it, check sources in the Conan Antonio Motti article to see if they also happen to mention Bast. Specifically, you must look at the Death Star Technical Companion and find a person who owns The Official Star Wars Fact Files - some of them ought to mention Bast even if indirectly in the Tarkin's entry. If you need any additional clarification, feel free to ask. MauserComlink 17:55, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Thank you for all your help Mauser and JMAS :) I'll definitely use this information. As for checking the Motti sources, I actually looked over some of the sources Chack added and found a few related to Bast. Currently, I added the Death Star Technical Companion in his bio and P&T, but it had very little information on Bast and only recognized him as Chief Bast. For the fact files and movie scripts, I'm going to look over the ANH scripts, as well as finding someone who has Tarkin, Motti, or better yet, DS officer-related fact files. Ahsoka talk page

Oh come on, Mauser. Maybe we should keep that anon's post just for the sheer laugh-your-ass-off factor. ;) - JMAS Hey, it's me! 19:10, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Feel free to save it at WP:BJAODN. But he saw the message and deserved his warning - I doubt this guy was even 10. And I just could not tolerate his nonsence. Seriously, kids make Internet stupid. MauserComlink 19:17, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
    • Oh, I know, and I was totally kidding about keeping it. But I did laugh out loud when I read it. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 19:43, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

RE:

Excuse me? You're the one that just violated the three revert rule. Darthfetta 11:30, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes, of course I do. I suggest you leave this to the administrators to handle before you lose anymore dignity. Darthfetta 11:34, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Apatros

Hey Mauser. I addressed your objections to Apatros, so get to 'em when you have the time. Cheers, IFYLOFD (You will pay the price for your lack of vision!) 02:17, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Links in the TC

Because Wikia's stupid spam filtering software would no longer allow editing of the TC because it linked to an ImageShack page. I didn't want to remove them, but it wouldn't let me edit it otherwise. jSarek 11:19, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Mirror, Mirror

Hey Mauser. Do you have access to that Mirror, Mirror article? Toprawa and Ralltiir 19:23, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes, I do. I also posted the links to the scans in the current TC topic, though they can only be accessed from the history. MauserComlink 19:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
