In the future, keep in mind that en dashes should not be used for hyphenating except when dealing with compound words and word combinations (e.g. "green-bladed", "bluish-green–bladed"; "anti-Republic", "anti–Galactic Republic"). Creating pages from the search page

Hey Jon. I noticed your edits to the sandbox and thought I'd let you know you can still use the search page to create articles. With the upgrade the redlink doesn't appear on the first search attempt anymore but on the second. So search for say "hello", and then press search again and the redlink at the top with the "hello (all pages starting with "hello" | all pages that link to "hello")" part should appear :-). In the future, remember that the term "Vong" by itself is not only slang, but can also be considered POV, since the term is used only by their opponents and is seen as derogatory by the Yuuzhan Vong themselves. Depending on what you're doing, the only thing of interest would be that his last name is spelled Dellso, as there has been some confusion over the spelling. Please watch your tone and what you say when commenting on talk pages. If someone makes a spelling error, big deal. Get over it. We all make mistakes. What we don't need is a know-it-all going around policing talk pages making sure to rub it in the face when someone makes a gaffe. This is pretty rude, if I may say so myself. And I certainly would have taken offense to it were I on the receiving end. I'm giving you a new motto to edit by: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Copyedit complete. Here are my objections:
  • "Disciples" and "Disciples of Twilight" are extremely repetitive throughout the article; see if you can replace some instances with pronouns.
  • In both intro and body, you state as a fact that "Twilight" was a former Jedi, but the source says only that she was "rumored to have been a former Jedi". This needs to be clarified.
  • The BTS states that they were presented as a prestige class, but the group was actually presented simply as a new Force tradition with no associated prestige class; this should be corrected.
  • The last sentence of the first paragraph in the "Philosophy and techniques" section seems more like history information and is already present in that section; is there a reason for having it here also?

    • If you only have one category, it doesn't matter whether you use {{DEFAULTSORT}} or simply pipe the category if you need to sort by something other than the pagename. However, here you want to sort it as "Disciples of Twilight", which is the pagename, so neither is needed, as the default in absence of DEFAULTSORT or category piping is to sort by {{PAGENAME}}.   • "Revan found Galas, who gave Revan a token that he had given Shasa as a child.":
  • Who does "he" refer to? As it stands, it's unclear.
  • If the token was given to Shasa earlier, how did it end up back in Galas's possession so he could give it to Revan? Please clarify.

  • This is more minor, but can you find a synonym for "give"? Currently, a form of that word is used twice in this sentence and once more two sentences later.
  • "creating an organization known as the 'Order'.": Is there a reason for pipelinking here? Since this is the first mention of the Order of Shasa, and it's not a conjectural name, the full name should probably be used unless there's a specific reason not to.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't character articles with more than a couple categories supposed to get a {{DEFAULTSORT}} tag? Or is it just a suggestion rather than a mandatory?--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 15:28, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
    • {{DEFAULTSORT}} is used to specify what name is used for the purpose of sorting the article within each category. It is used only when 1) the article needs to be sorted by something other than the pagename (example: Asajj Ventress should be sorted by her last name first, so she gets a {{DEFAULTSORT:Ventress, Asajj}}) AND 2) the article should be sorted the same in every category it is in. In the case of Shasa, you want it sorted in the categories under "S" for Shasa, which is the pagename, so a DEFAULTSORT tag would be redundant, since the MediaWiki software defaults to the pagename. —Master Jonathan(Jedi Council Chambers) 16:53, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

          • 1,226 words, so good to go for FAN. All word counts for purposes of GAN/FAN rules are done in Microsoft Word. If you have Word, you can easily get the word count yourself by simply copying the entire article from the beginning of the intro through the end of the BTS into Word (do this from the main display, not from the edit box) and then deleting the TOC and all quotes, images, image captions, and section headers, leaving nothing but prose. Impact explosives

Impact explosives are just a category, they're not really mentioned in the Star Wars canon, but they form some sort of category (like knives, droids, etc) —Unsigned comment by Peralta (talk • contribs)

  • In that case, if they're not explicitly mentioned in a canonical source as forming a specific group, then the group doesn't get an article. Question

"Echo, and the remaining clone troopers, witness the destruction of the base." That's an image caption from CT-26-1409. I think that the use of comma isn't right, so I thought I'd ask you, since you're the comma expert :P Wouldn't the right versio be "Echo, and the remaining clone troopers witness the destruction of the base."?   • Actually, no commas should be used at all. The original caption treats "and the remaining clone troopers" as a parenthetical expression, but such phrases should be set off by commas only when they do not change the meaning of the sentence. This phrase does change the meaning by indicating that multiple clones watched it rather than only Echo, so it should not have commas at all. I went ahead and corrected the caption in the article.
