Decipher Star Wars Customizable Card Game Full Page protection?
Hey MJ, digging through some old links I stumbled across this:
I thought it may we worthwhile adding to the Star Wars Customizable Card Game page as part of the "Behind the scenes" section as it involves cancelled sets that were officially announced yet never released. Some of these sets/test cards have even started showing up for sale on ebay etc recently. It appears that these sets are not the non-canon virtual sets but play-testing/pre-release cards that were never mass produced due to decipher's loss of license. Looking through the page history however, I found the page has been fully protected for some time due to a dispute involving a user who has been inactive for at least 3 months now. Would it be possible to revise this page back to semi-protection? I have been working on a number of CCG related articles and continue to stumble across new info via archive.org. Eeusu Estornii in Insider 85
Hey, MJ! I noticed from your user page that you have Star Wars Insider 85. I'm looking for information from the article "Long Ago, Far Away: Galaxy Fashion," for which we don't have an article yet. Apparently, it discusses or picures Eeusu Estornii, a Zeuol from Ord Zeuol. What exactly does it say about her or her species? I'm also interested in paying attention to how her name, species, and planet are spelled, since the spelling shifts from source to source. If you can give me specific page numbers, too, that'd be awesome. Thanks for any help you can provide! ~Savage

- Nothing in the prose, just a small photo at the bottom of page 66 with the caption, "A collage of costumes worn by Senators Bail Organa (left) and Ecusu Estornii (center), and Palpatine's aid Mas Amedda in Revenge of the Sith." All spelling in that quote, is exact from the source. The photo depicts the costumes in an OOU context, apparently displayed on mannequins rather than the actors, although the mannequin under the Estornii costume is not visible in the picture due to the mask covering the face and her hands being cropped off the bottom of the photo (the only visible mannequin in that photo is Bail, but the two photos next to it are clearly composed of mannequins, one of them explicitly stated as such in the caption). —MJ— Training Room 23:55, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

Hi MJ, I don't know if this is a stupid question or not but I can't seem to figure out how to ad a private link for users to send me email. Under "My preferences --> Email" it states that:
"You can also choose to let others contact you by e-mail through a link on your user or talk page. Your e-mail address is not revealed when other users contact you."
I've ticked "Enable email from other users" but fail to see anything that enables the link to be shown on my user page. Am I missing something? Rokkur Shen (talk) 01:02, February 14, 2013 (UTC)
- It's shown automatically when the "Enable email from other users" box is checked. If you use Monobook, the link is in the left sidebar under "toolbox" (and I see it there now). If you use the default skin, then 1) I haven't the foggiest clue where it's at, 2) you can create a manual link like this: Special:EmailUser/Rokkur Shen, and 3) I highly recommend switching your skin to Monobook, as that's what Wookieepedia officially recommends and it's a much better skin. —MJ— Holocomm 01:10, February 14, 2013 (UTC)

Head
Hey there, MJ. I just thought I'd bring up further reasoning for deleting the "head" redirect. We are a Star Wars database, and thus everything here is strictly about SW-related information. The article on "toilet" is not about toilets on Earth, which may be called heads in (rather unique) deviants of English, but rather about toilets in the SW galaxy. Those toilets have never been referred to as heads. Thus, I again propose that the redirect be deleted. Also, if anyone speaks English and searches for heads, they will know to search for "toilet" if they come up with nothing. MasterFred

- While I understand your arguments, redirects do not have to be exclusively IU terms; real-world terms for anything are a plausible search query and thus should redirect to an IU equivalent. The current status head is certainly not the best overall, but at the moment we have no article on the body part and no other valid target for the redirect, so for now we have nothing better to do with it. If it was a freshly created redirect (within the past few days), I'd be more inclined to delete it for the reasons you laid out, but given that it's existed for over five years, I'm hesitant to delete it on something minor like this. Of course, the best thing to do with it, as JMAS mentioned, is for someone with the necessary sources (not me) to convert it to an article on the body part. Hi MJ, I was just wondering what the accepted procedure is for adding successful CA noms to my user page. Is it a task that I perform myself or something that is awarded by an admin? A recent article of mine was successfully promoted to CA status but I don't want to be too forward in adding the nom to my page if that is not the accepted procedure. Thanks. Refresher Reading
Hey, MJ! I've got another Insider question for you. I've been trying to disentangle a lot of rumor and speculation around this character from the cantina in A New Hope. Apparently, the character is pictured or mentioned in "Refresher Reading," an article in Star Wars Insider 91. Is it just a random picture? Is there any identification? Some people think this is "Little Aunt Beru," but it looks more like a male littler person actor from the UK named Geoffrey Moon. Thanks for any help! ~Savage 17:04, February 27, 2013 (UTC)
- Just a picture of the bar at the top of the page, though I can't seem to establish that picture as a screenshot from the movie, nor can I identify him in the movie with the timestamps on the article (which may have something to do with me having the full screen 4:3 version instead of the 16:9 widescreen version). Rebel commando vs camo henchman
Hi, Master Jonathan. Due to a recent update by Pablo Hidalgo, we know that this guy's identification as a Rebel commando was only due to a mislabeled promotional photograph. In fact, that cut character was one of Jabba's henchmen, which is why I created an article for the "unidentified camo-wearing henchman." In light of the new information, which I added all in the the new article's BtS, should the unidentified commando article be outright deleted, merged or put up for Trash Compactor? --LelalMekha (talk) 01:21, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
- I don't see anything that was copied from one article to the other that would require attribution, so there's no reason it would need to stick around, and it's useless as a search query. I've deleted the old article (and its redirects generated by Rokkur's pagemove right after you left this message) and fixed the one mainspace link in the ROTJ article. Tulak Hord
Jonathan; please refer to the Tulak Hord discussion page to see why I edited the page.
There has been an assumption made which is wrong and is being repeated. I have the sources being quoted and can refute their statements. I left a statement on the discussion page months ago which nobody commented on.
I have corrected the Ergast page also. We don't know when Tulak Hord lived; it is implied to be during the time when the Sith returned to the galaxy at large just after they were exiled and found Korriban, but that is conjecture on my part (though it is the only way it fits all the sources and references).
I won't put it back, because I'll end up in an edit war.

I just saw sourced information being removed without an edit summary and automatically went for the undo button, without seeing the talk page post until after I had reverted. I myself know nothing about TOR, so I can't verify what you said, but it sounds reasonable enough. Domain Suggestion
Hi. I have a suggestion. To help improve close relations between the other language star wars wikis you should put the largest Star Wars wikis including English Wookieepedia, French Wookieepedia, German Jedipedia and the other major star wars wikis all onto one domain of Wookieepedia.com (or whatever is decided, for an example Jedipedia is an exception) that serves as a redirecting domain except the domain it is redirected to (for example currently wookieepedia.com is re-directed to starwars.wikia.com) is not displayed. You can make an en.wookieepedia.com for english wookieepedia etc, Jedipedia can still be de.wookieepedia.com and still have Jedipedia.net as a domain. To see what I mean go to en.memoryalpha.org the startrek wiki and you will see an example. Superdadsuper (talk) 21:19, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
- We can't do that because Wikia won't allow us to just get up and move to our own domain. Wikia will keep a complete copy of Wookieepedia up, accessible directly at starwars.wikia.com, which we can do nothing about, and Wikia's copy would dominate us in search engine rankings, making it nearly impossible to get new readers and editors. User Rights
You should have Wikia Staff make Inquistors and the Agricorps as special User Groups. Wikia Staff does do this for large enough wikis and Wookieepedia is by far one of the largest wikis on wikia. You may do this via Special:Contact. You must be very spefic, by making a new User Right users may or may not have a heading, and it will disallow Users to fake articles as good or featured. You probably should speak with the rest of the admins before you do that. You should probably do this with the other user groups. - There's absolutely no reason to do this and several very good reasons not to. If only an Inq (AC member) can tag an article as featured (good), then consider what happens when a vandal blanks a legitimate featured or good article. Instead of anyone being able to revert the edit, it would be impossible to revert the vandalism until an Inq (AC member) happens to come by, which could lead to the article sitting in its vandalized state for several hours. Furthermore, it is not technically possible to natively allow only members of a certain group to add certain text to a page; this would have to be done through the AbuseFilter, which 1) has a limited amount of resources and 2) can be more easily maintained with a list of usernames hardcoded directly into the filter, which any admin can edit, whereas user groups can only be modified by bureaucrats. And finally, this is a solution in search of a problem, as users faking a GA or FA is rare, if it ever occurs at all; indeed, I've been here for four years and cannot recall one instance in those four years of a user faking a GA or FA.
- Also, I would advise you to not waste your time by "doing it for me", because 1) Wikia only accepts requests of this nature from local administrators, which you are not, 2) it would need to be discussed not with the rest of the admins, but with the entire community, and 3) the community would reject it for the reasons I've laid out. And as a final note, don't treat me like I know nothing about how this site works. Telling me things like "You may do this via Special:Contact." and "You probably should speak with the rest of the admins before you do that." implies that you think that I don't even know the basics of how to use the site, which is highly insulting to me. If I truly did not know these things (and indeed, the second thing I quoted from your comment is flat-out wrong, as I pointed out at the beginning of this paragraph), I would not be an administrator. I was going to ask someone else this question but since you were the one to clean up the BJODN page I'll ask you.
I have made a template that could be used for the BJODN page rather than formatting them by hand. I am wondering if you think this is a good idea? If you want to see the template click here. If you like this idea and think it is okay I, or you, could move the template to a real template page and go on from there. It will need a category. What do you think? Feedback welcome. - While I appreciate your effort, I personally think the template is overkill. For one, it squashes the text into a narrow space, which would cause long entries to take up way too much vertical space (extreme example: this one) and create tons of whitespace on both sides. Second, in many cases the original formatting (headers, etc.; see previous linked entry for an example) adds to the absurdity and should be preserved as much as possible, which would be difficult to do with the template (this is also why rarely-seen level 1 headers are used for the date). Third, it's not always appropriate to provide the page name, which in some cases may be so grossly inappropriate as to warrant having a bureaucrat redact it from the logs. Finally, it's just not needed. The current method of formatting is simple enough (one header, one or two lines below that for information, paste, and save) and a template would actually make it more complicated, and a joke page like this doesn't need to look pretty. Again, I appreciate your effort to try to improve the page, but it's just not desirable or needed. :) —MJ— War Room 01:11, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

- Take a look at the discussion that ensued on my test wiki. Note that I did reduce the block from two weeks to one day following that discussion.
