not to be rude

Sorry for overeacting on the Plagueis talk page. I was kinda rude. I didn't mean to order you around or anything on the page. I was frustrated and sick, and I wanted that line gone. However, I don't remember editing your comment there. It must've been a mistake. --#Darthchristian (Hey!) 1:58, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Vader's apprentice

Why did you put that picture back in? It is just taking up space. It looks odd at the bottom of the page, and there's no room for it elsewhere, so I removed it. Chack Jadson 14:25, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

question about imperial officers

I'm not sure if you have played the Jedi Knight series of games like Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, but I seem it hard to find out what the tan-uniformed imperial officers in the game are part of. Are they base officers and/or higher-ranking officers than the ones that wear black and grey uniforms? I think the same colored uniform was used for imperial officer on display at the magic or myth at the National Air and Space Museum in DC some years back. Just wanted your opinion on it. Image of officer here: ([1])

Would you take a look at this please Jack?

The Dark Empire article is terrible. Im thinking only a star wars expert who can also use proper grammer can fix it up, and I unfortunatly have finals i'm working on at the moment. It's horrible to read. Could you please help fixing it up? Thanks in advance, -Eggzavier 02:05, 4 May 2007 (UTC)×

Conclave on Kessel

I'm hoping you can clarify your position on the ...er... position of the Conclave on Kessel image on Great Jedi Purge. Your most recent move causes it to bang into the next heading (Subjugation of Kashyyyk) at 1024x768. Is there a particular reason why you think it shouldn't be where it was? Dofine

"Unfortunately, while several escape pods managed to be recovered by fleeing Separatist forces, Captain Dofine's pod was struck by a stray turbolaser blast and was instantly incinerated, along with all on board." That isn't a death? 62.31.69.202 22:40, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Such and such

I think that any concerns that you may have about me may fall by the wayside after today, since I'm pulling out of Wookieepedia for a while after the last Wookiee-Cast. I think that the time for detente has passed, but that doesn't mean I have a vendetta against you or anything like that. I think the best thing to do would be to have you do your thing and let me do my thing, and just hope to God that we avoid a conflict along the way. Thefourdotelipsis 22:21, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Tempest (2)+(3)+(17-B)

Jack, watching the movie again and anylyzing the cards and such i have discovered that i made a mistake *embarassed*. Tempest scout 2 and Tempest scout 3 ARE differant vehicles, but it IS scout 2 that chewbacca hijacks. The callsign for Tempest Scout 2 would therefore be 17-B. I'm changing the articles now. -Eggzavier 22:28, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Warning

  • Here's your warning. Add those eras in again and you will be heading for a 1 day ban. QuentinGeorge 00:32, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Why? Just because you don't like me? You have yet to given a solid reason for them not to be there. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:34, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
      • The reason is patently obvious. K'Kruhk has not appeared in a single source set in those eras. And that's what the tags are for. QuentinGeorge 00:34, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
        • So, even though he's lived from the Rise of the Empire era through the other eras to the Legacy era, we can't add the tags just because he hasn't appeared in a source from those eras? Some encyclopedia we are. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:36, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
          • Where's your proof he lived through to the other eras? As I said, there's a myriad of other possibilites, including stasis, time travel, wormholes, etc. QuentinGeorge 00:38, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
            • All of which are 100% fanon. Saying that he simply lived through those eras has the least amount of fanon in it because it's the most obvious and likely one. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:40, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
              • Good Lord Jack you can be dense sometimes. Don't assume facts not in evidence. The only thing that can be said is that K'Kruhk was active in the ROTE and Legacy eras, and that's exactly what his article says. QuentinGeorge 00:42, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
                • "Active" and "being alive" can be two entirely different things. In addition, keep your grudge against me out of this discussion. It's so painfully obvious that it really makes you look immature. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:44, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
                  • Would you leave your precious ego out of this? Observe the article: Ken. Ken was alive during previous eras, but he is not in stories set in those eras. Hence he only gets the New Republic era tag. Comprehende? QuentinGeorge 00:46, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
                    • Yes. But is there a policy stating that that is what is to be done in that case? —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:48, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
                      • There's no policy, but there's loads of precedent. Guri, HK-47, Aurra Sing, and, well, every article where this might be an issue. Era symbols have only been used, and are only used for the eras where a character appears. - Lord Hydronium 01:54, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
                        • Except, in those cases, the charcter doesn't appear in the Rise of the Empire era and then the Legacy era. Therefore, I see no reason why those era tags shouldn't be there, since there is no policy and this example is not like the others. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 13:35, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Using S and apostrophe

  • While both are accepted, it is more correct to eschew the extra s. See here. QuentinGeorge 01:15, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
    • My friend's son's eighth grade English textbook says otherwise. If you can wait until Monday, I can give you a quote from it. In addition, throughout this site, "s's" is used predominantly. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 01:17, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
      • If your friend's son's textbook says that (and I doubt that it does), it is wrong. QuentinGeorge 01:26, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
        • No, it isn't wrong. And, Quentin, it does say that. That's how I know about it. One day, I was editting, and he saw a "s' " on an article, and he told me that it should be "s's". He then proceeded to show me the lesson in his book. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 01:29, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Guys...You're fighting over an "S"...In the grand scheme of things that is Wookieepedia, is this really that important?-- SFH 01:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Well, you're right, it's not worth fighting about. If it will keep serial troll Jack Nebulax happy then, yes, fine he can keep the damn ugly and superflous S. I've given up. QuentinGeorge 01:40, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
      • Not only has this been discussed before, it's actually policy to have a final "S" following a possessive singular noun ending in "S." jSarek 02:06, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
        • Oh, Quentin, grow up already. Enough with your grudge against me. If you're seriously just doing all of this because you don't like me, well, then you're a horrible admin. We're here to improve Wookieepedia, not hate other users. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 14:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
          • I'm currently studying english and am reasonably good at it. It seems to be politically correct to use either s's and s' (though the latter looks far neater in my opinion) However it seems to me its used differntly in different situations. e.g. it is always "Jesus' mother" and never "Jesus's mother." Also, it is nearly always "James's mother" and not "James' mother." I have a grammar book called 'Eats, shoots and leaves' which covers this. if you want i can flick through it and end the debate. Picture Reverts

  • Hello 'Jack Nebulax' de-facto Admin. You might recognize me as an annoying name that did minor edits at a bunch of articles. I humbly come to your talk page to ask if your browser sees what mine sees... Some pictures seem to overlap text in the articles I edited and you reverted. Are these errors not appearing for you? If you wish I can try to send you a picture of what I mean. If there is no problems with the size of the pictures, is their any advice you can give me as to why my browser (which is Mozilla Firefox) is showing this? Thanks. Maphisto86 06:56, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
    • This isn't the first time this has happened. I'd appreciate it if you would send me a picture of how you see it; from there, we can try to rearrange it to benefit both of us (and others). —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 14:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Here is a example of the problems with pictures my browser sees on Wookiepedia.200px|right. This is from the article about the Invisible Hand. Similiar problems I saw on most of the other articles I edited. I tried to "correct" the problem but I seem to be the only one who sees the picture overlapping onto the text. Click the image for a closer look. Maphisto86 05:08, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Here we go again.

Let me put this out there before I go on: I generally try to avoid you, but I'll make an exception. In any event, in the Imperial Remnant article, you have placed Imperial I-class as the link in the Military section. The point is for it to lead to both articles, thus the disambiguation page. Will you also specify the path for the Victory-class bit? If so, I think you'd be wrong because it implies Imperial I-class were exclusively used by the Imperial Remnant's Fleet, when in fact we know beyond a shadow of a doubt they used both forms of the class. I won't get into a war with you over it because I think this is rather petty, but I also think that it's very incorrect to leave as you edited it. I'll let someone else deal with it later.--SOCLcomm 22:09, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

  • We as Wookieepedians try to avoid linking to disambig pages. In any case, I'll do something that should suit the both of us. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 22:11, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
    • I'm not interested in being suited, Jack, just being correct.--SOCLcomm 22:16, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
      • You do realize that one can never always be correct. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 22:17, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
        • Never said I always was. But as I said, I am interested in being correct. If you'd like to extend that to my interest in always being correct, that's fine, but don't extend it any further than that. Take it easy, Nebulax. I'm sure this won't be the last time we run into each other.--SOCLcomm 22:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

For a better cooperation

Ok as i said after all that stuff on the vengeance talk page it seems we got a quite wrong impression of each other, normally I'm a very friendly guy ;) By the way I have a short question. You know List of Starships? Do you know any source for an Executor class vessel named 'Emperor' ? Fleetadmiral Jack Ryan 23:18, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Don't feed the trolls please

  • Telling them to "go to hell" is probably not the best way to deal with a troll. Atarumaster88 13:04, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Neither is "Please don't say that". —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:05, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
      • I'd rather have that. TBH, the best response is to say nothing at all, and just tell an admin about it, instead of resorting to childish insults. Atarumaster88 14:53, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
        • How about we split the difference: "Please go to hell?" ;) Erik Pflueger 20px 21:18, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
          • Ataru, it's just like I predicted in all those emails. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:29, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
            • To quote a certain Sith Lord, Jack, "Your faith in your friends is your weakness.";) Sure, there's nothing wrong with leaping to someone's defense when they are insulted, but you should try to maintain a certain level of composure. I could see if this was a real-time conversation, but when you are reading these comments online, you actually have the luxury of taking the time you need to phrase a reply. I'd recommend simply saying "Oh, grow up."Tocneppil 00:58, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Call me an idealistic fool, but I aim for one thing in arguments: Keep the peace. Often, I don't care who's actually right on an issue, (CTs on grammar issues please take note) but that they're not spreading ill will in the process. Healthy debate is a great thing- I just don't want it to create grudges and discord among the community. To use a RL example, factionalizing and making alliances dragged all of Europe into the mess that was World War I. Not to say that'll happen here, but I think it's more important that everyone does their part to keep good faith. Atarumaster88 15:29, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Your Adminship

Personally Jack, I think you should be an administrator. You have been on Wookieepedia for Twenty months, wich is over a year, you have contributed so much to the wiki, you help people correct spelling and Grammar mistakes, and in the case of the Infantry Support Platform talk page, you point out to users where obscure things to do with Star Wars appear. And from what I've read on your talk page, I ended up here accidently before I joined wookieepedia, you can be a very good, friendly, and forgiving user who tries his best to obey the rules. So basically I think you should be an administrator.OOM-10 07:40, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Me too. I don't understand why you aren't one already. When can I nominate you for adminship? That is, if you want it of course. -Darthtyler

I must say your knowledge of all the spacecraft is amazing I must agree. How on earth do you even know all of these facts. Were do you find them i guess is my question. --Crash 00:51, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Really. I have the most hardest time tring to keep my attention to the books so I found it easier to read them on wookieepidia. So question what is your favorite fighter? I know that might be hard for you to pick but if you had to what one would it be?--Crash 02:53, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

  • About the intro text to the Guard article, I think that initial sentence worked even with the bit about the Red Guard functioning as a dependent clause. It didn't need to be kicked back to the end of the paragraph as a separate sentence. I'm gonna revert it for now, because unless my understanding of English is ridiculously skewed, I think it's fine. Unless, of course, it violates policy-based style, in which case you're free to revert...my revert. Heh. --School of Thrawn 101 04:34, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Question

  • Do you know if, since the WEG ISD stats are obviously wrong for armament, if the other shield ratings from Stackpole's X-wing series are now non-canon? Case in point, Wedge and the Rogues bring down an ISD's shields with 24 proton torps, IIRC, and use about 80 to take down Lusankya's shields. Are those still canon? I figured you would probably know. ;-) Oh, and btw, I've written more of Force Exile I- it's on my SWFanon account if you're interested. Cheers. A question about small formatting issues

My dear friend Jack,

First, I never got the chance to tell you how glad I am to have you back in the group and operating as the regular "continuity and corrections officer" on the Palpatine page. I do have - and have had - a few small questions regarding small, hardly significant issues - smaller-case and upper-case letter usage, formatting, things like that - that I have wanted to ask you in hopes of clarifying a few things. And let me insist that there is NO OFFENSE INTENDED concerning these questions:

1.) Why do you always capitalize the word "galaxy" into "Galaxy?" I have read SW materials for a VERY long time, and I can recall no time in which I've read the word galaxy, in regards to the location in which the SW saga takes place, referred to in capital letters. As you might surmise, I would prefer it in lower-case for that very reason. I don't recall reading that it must be capitalized in the Manual of Style. Is it a personal preference?

2.) Why do you add a "the" before the name of every sector in the 'Pedia? I realize that the Manual of Style says a given sector has to be referred to in capitals, as in "Arkanis Sector," as opposed to lowercase as in "Arkanis sector." But it's always been an open question as to whether or not to put a "the" in front, as in "the Arkanis Sector." Is that from the Manual of Style as well? Or is it another personal preference?

I may have other questions as they come to me, but those are the ones foremost in my mind at present. Please be so kind as to help enlighten me, and please take no offense from my questions, for no malice is intended. Erik Pflueger 20px 20:28, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

  • 1) Having "Galaxy" capitalized in reference to the Star Wars Galaxy was determined a while ago. I'll try to find the link. 2) Putting "the" in front of the name of a sector is how it is in every book I've read, minus Allegiance. I don't think it's in the MoS mainly because it's always been like that. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:46, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Executor

Do you really think that the line "Darth Vader may have been an Executor" looks better at the bottom? I think it looks awkward down there. Compare the two versions, which do you think looks better? Chack Jadson 19:28, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

  • It doesn't matter which version looks better. It's about putting the information in its proper place. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 19:30, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
    • But why would it be out of place above, where I placed it? It could fit in either place, I believe. Chack Jadson 19:33, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
      • Putting it under "List of Executors" is more appropriate because Vader may have been an Executor, which would then put him under that list. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 19:35, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
        • But he might have been an Executor. It's not been proven, so wouldn't it look better as a separate line above? Chack Jadson 19:38, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
          • No. Again, it's not about the looks of the article. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 19:39, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
            • Well, it is somewhat as long as it doesn't conflict with canon. This doesn't, so wouldn't it make more sense to put that he might have been an Executor as a line in the main text rather than under a list of Executors? Chack Jadson 19:43, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
              • Again, no. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 22:59, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
                • I'm sorry Jack, but why? It's not about looks anymore, now it's about common sense. Why does it make more sense to put it at the bottom under a list—when it's only possible he was an Executor—then to put it in the main text? Chack Jadson 00:16, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
  • If Darth Vader was never confirmed as an Executor, why would he be in a list of Executors? --School of Thrawn 101 04:35, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Legacy #13

How did you guess. :-P Yeah, thats me. I was actualyl suprised they printed my letter- I guessed that they probably recieve hundreds each month. Was it the name or the fact that I constantly work on Galactic Alliance articles that gave me away? :-) AdmiralNick22 00:48, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

  • Both. And congratulations. You're now famous to the fans of Legacy (or at least those who read the letters to the editor ;) ). —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 00:53, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
    • I was most pleased by the fact that Randy's response did not discount future GA-focused stories (especially the one about Rouge Squadron!), but instead said that those will have to wait until we get through the next big arc. Plus I was really stoked to see that they printed the GA fleet shot on a two page spread. Sean Cooke (the artist) does amazing things, IMO. AdmiralNick22 01:03, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

501st

Hey Jack, once again I've got a question for you. On 501st Legion, why do you keep removing the "the" in front of Millennium Falcon? Isn't it supposed to be "the"? Just look at the Falcon article. Chack Jadson 12:29, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

  • It's proper American English grammar not to put "the" in front of ship names, though others disagree. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 13:36, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
    • It should be fair to warn you though that there was a consensus reached on this issue...and you are blatantly going against it. Which I believe might be a violation of some site rule...--Redemption20pxTalk 01:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I kept the good edits and weeded out the unnecessary and just plain ugly ones. At least look before you click the revert button. Please consider that someone other than yourself could make a worthwhile contribution to this wiki. The only thing you could do to piss me off worse than removing content from and making hideous Grand Admiral links in an article I spent weeks writing is to get into an edit war with me over it. It is not pretty down that road. I've tolerated your shenanigans and sense of complete ownership over this wiki in the past. Heck, I've even supported and accommodated you on certain issues where you have very few friends. Please don't make me regret that. Havac 00:21, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
