Huttese writing system

Hello jSarek. As you are our "in-house expert" for linguistics, I wanted you opinion about this discovery. While playing SWTOR, I noticed Black Sun graffitis on Coruscant, and it seemed some of them were written in "Nal-Huttese". Of course, I checked, compare with the available, fanmade font available online (the 26 letters version). It clearly fits, and the graffiti reads "Black Sun". Would that mean, according to you, this font has been "canonized"? LelalMekha 20:14, January 23, 2012 (UTC)

I'll keep my eyes open for Huttese inscriptions, anyway. And I'll see if it keeps being readable. Until now, I also spotted another inscription that can be read "The sun shall rise".LelalMekha 10:19, January 24, 2012 (UTC)

"Sith writing" in the Book of Sith

[[File:Sithese.png|thumb|Sith language and writing (from the preview video of the "Book of Sith")]]Hello, jSarek. I noticed there are really interesting new info in the "Book of Sith" about the Sith language. A few inscriptions appear, and I believe the new info should be added here somewhere. Still... You introduced two different written forms of the Sith language. Can we assume the hieroglyphics seen int he Book are what you called High Sith?

By the way, when analyzing the text that was given in the Book, I noticed a couple interessants facts about this script. Here are my conclusions:

"Sith language was generally written from left to right in horizontal lines. Consonants were constructed by the combination of a long vertical stroke and various hooks or barbs. The vowels were indicated by diacritics which appeared above the consonant which preceded. When vowels came at the beginning of a word or stood on their own, the diacritics appeared alone. Some glyphs represented compound consonants, like mw or tsw." Would it be considered original research? I think it's only a matter of thorough and careful observation of the text. LelalMekha 20:22, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

I'll try to ask the one who actually created the sith language used in this book. I'm quite unsure whether he knows it himself, but we'll see. LelalMekha 19:22, February 1, 2012 (UTC)

SWM wiki

Hey, Tope just closed Forum:TC:Star Wars Merchandise Wiki, but we were a little bit unsure about what your suggestion actually means? Does it mean redirecting/merging it into Wookieepedia, or moving the page to Wookieepedia:Star Wars Merchandise Wiki? Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 22:12, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

Pashna and co.

Hey jSarek,

I'm guessing you'll probably update Voren, but I just thought I'd give you a heads-up that since he's now in ANH, he'll likely be retconned into some comic adaptations and (Picture only) sources as well. I have a lot of the adaptations, so I'll do some checking through comics, as well as sourcebooks that include screenshots of the ceremony, tonight. Status reports will come in the form of updates to Voren's "Sources" section. Menkooroo 01:07, April 30, 2012 (UTC)

  • Actually, I think I'll wait until I've seen both pages of the article so that I can place Hextrophon too. Should be within the week. Menkooroo 01:24, April 30, 2012 (UTC)
    • Actually, I got it tonight. Found him in some adaptation and sourcebook screenshots, but, of course, there was no new info. :) But if you'd like to insert a high-quality picture of his face from ANH somewhere in the article, talk to Culator. Menkooroo 02:21, April 30, 2012 (UTC)
      • That's all the article has --- a photo of the group standing on-stage and captions identifying who all the people are. In-universe-wise, Voren will only need to be updated to describe the medal ceremony --- Arhul gives Dodonna the medal to give to Leia to give to Han, and Voren gives Dodonna the medal to give to Leia to give to Luke. Re: Colonoscopy

I'm glad that there are no "Like" buttons. Seeing them all over TFN is annoying enough. They're prolly lurking in the Oasis skin, but I refuse to check and see. Though, knowing Wikia, adding those would be on their "to do" list. :P Trak Nar Ramble on 04:27, April 30, 2012 (UTC)

A Request for mediation

I am appealing to you to draw your attention to a matter on the administrators noticeboard. I have been unfairly blocked from my user account User: Darth Ceratis for reasons that are untrue and unfair, as I relate in my argument there, by one of your fellow Bureaucrats, user: Darth Culator. I presented my case in a very civil and professional manner, and I’m requesting that you mediate the conflict. Culator has protected the article so I can no longer post in it in any capacity, despite the fact that I have broken no rules of conduct. Additionally, he has extended my block from the maximum of one month (already uncalled for given the original issue) to an infinite one due to “Block evasion.” I have evaded my block only in order to appeal to have it removed, as I have not figured out any other way to do so. I’ve made no other edits than to attempt to plead my case on the admin notice board. I understand that it is generally the policy that administrators do not overrule one another’s decisions, but I firmly believe that Culator is abusing his power regarding his treatment of me, and I would like some neutral parties to involve themselves.216.8.121.1 19:19, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Droid Barn-Burner extension

Hk47portrait

Hello, <insert name here>, this is Exiled Jedi, and I am here to tell you that barn-burner 4 has been extended into June. We have currently passed three comprehensive articles, and have four featured article nominations and eight good article nominations. So if you have the time, stop by and review some of the articles for the barn-burner. Also, it would be great if each of the barn-burner contributors could do one more nomination each, so that we could have a good turn-out! Have a nice day, and happy editing!--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 13:49, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

"Sith language" improvement

Hello JSarek. I've been working on the Sith language article lately, in hopes of improving it considerably. As you are something of an "in-house expert" for fictional linguistics, I'd like to know if you could take a look at the article and let me know how you think it could be improved—if you are willing to do it, and if you have time, of course. Best regards. --LelalMekha (talk) 19:53, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

  • Thank you. The BtS is already quite loaded. As I pointed out, it is a real shame that Grossblatt system, however interesting it is, does not even allow to write Sith words that have been known for ages.--LelalMekha (talk) 20:22, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

For putting in the time and effort to help showcase our site at CVI, you deserve a huge thanks from all of Wookieepedia. It takes dedication and commitment to travel out there and man the table, and it definitely paid off with the VIPs we were able to grab and talk with. Excellent job. • Thanks. I wish I could claim I made that trip solely for the benefit of Wookieepedia ... so I will! I did it all for the Wook, and not at all for my own personal desire to see and do lots of awesome stuff at Celebration! ;-) jSarek (talk) 08:25, August 31, 2012 (UTC)

I don't recall their names, either. :/ Trak Nar Ramble on 01:57, October 10, 2012 (UTC)

Music LG CT

I have removed the "Lyrics" section from the guide and added a bit into the "Conception and development" section stating that the writing of the lyrics is to be included here. A link to LyricWiki will be provided in the "Further reading" section and the infobox. MasterFredCommerce Guild(Whatever) 15:52, November 20, 2012 (UTC)

The value of authorial intent

Hey JSarek! I recently obtained bits of information from Barbara Hambly on Bail Organa's three sisters—Rouge, Celly and Tia. In her email, Hambly briefly exposed new little things, such as which sister was the oldest and so on. I've just re-read our canon policy, and it only says that authorial intent is of "unclear" canonicity. I understand why the policiy was written in this fashion, but it does not solve my problem. Obviously, everything can go in the BtS section, but I wonder which parts would be suitable for the body of the article. I'd like to hear your opinion about this. Regards. --LelalMekha (talk) 16:01, November 20, 2012 (UTC)
