why u delete my page u ass

  • Because it was . . . wait for it . . . vandalism! Just like you put in the header to this very talk page section. And since you decided to also violate WP:NPA just now, you get to take a little vacation. Don't try that crap again when you come back. jSarek 00:32, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Renaming pages

  • Since the redesign, I can't work out how to rename pages with their talk page and history, leaving a redirect behind. I assume I'm missing something obvious? :p --McEwok 02:20, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the reply. D'oh. I was looking for "rename", not "move". Dunno why. --McEwok 03:00, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

s's

Hey, thanks for that link to the forum on punctuation. Gonk, an English professor, informed me that in all his searches, he has not come upon a current set of rules for such punctuation, and that the only guidelines he could find involved the pronunciation of the final "s" of the word (a "z" sound gets an extra "s" while an "s" sound receives only an apostrophe). However, I personally disagreed with this, and do indeed feel that all words ending in "s" should receive the extra "s" after the apostrophe, as this is purely print and we cannot presume to possess knowledge of the myriad pronunciations of our subject matter. Also, in most of the publications that I myself read, the extra "s," which I do not consider to be "extra," is always used. So, it makes me feel a lot better to know that some decision was reached on this some time ago. Once again, users who have been around for quite a while prove just how crucial they are to the site; thank you. Graestan(Talk) 16:04, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Just to jump in on the conversation, what was the decision? I'm against the second s, but I'm not sure if that's a British english thing or just me :) --Eyrezer 20:49, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Veedo Vaocan

I've put the picture back — but in the BTS section, with an explanation of why that isn't Dr. Vaocan. Hopefully, this helps matters somewhat. I'd leave it out entirely, but I think it's needed to illustrate the BTS explanation. Cheers, —Silly Dan (talk) 15:55, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks: it's pretty straightforward when an article has only one source and only one continuity issue. 8) —Silly Dan (talk) 19:47, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Fact checking

I was wondering if you could check a fact for me. Apparently after Endor there were riots across the worlds owned by the Salliche Ag Corp. I believe this fact is from the Star Wars Adventure Journal 2, although I'm not sure which article. Could you have a look for me to determine its validity, and also what article its from? --Eyrezer 00:05, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks! That's interesting. I wonder if based on that I can state that 2 SDs were sent to Moorja itself? However, they don't seem to be present in the events of Black Curs Blues itself, which of course, has Harkness still to deliver that very report. Still IIRC, the scouting mission took many months [6 months per Recon itself (I forgot I had access to the report)] so there is time for the SDs to be recalled given Moorja's stable condition. --Eyrezer 05:17, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
    • Feel like joining IRC? There are a couple of other things I'd like to check. --Eyrezer 05:37, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
      • No worries. I just decided to be BOLD and make a few changes to carto errors I'd noticed, like having Desstious placed in the Lambda Sector (which I think was conjecture based on it being Par Lakin's homeworld), Lambda Sector being in the ORT, and the canonical naming of a "Xandil system". I searched the WEG sources given for each of those and corrected what I saw as errors. --Eyrezer 22:08, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
        • On another note, I wonder if Bettle could be nommed for GA. If all the info is there, it should qualify (I think you're the one who has worked on it). --Eyrezer 23:28, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
          • I'm curious to hear your reactions to the collection of Atlas quotes that Dan Wallace posted. I saw on his blog that you thought you could guess at a most of them. --Eyrezer 08:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
            • It appears SenatorCilghal agrees with you. --Eyrezer 21:58, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Would you mind checking another detail for me in an AJ? I'm curious as to the origins of Catarlo Sector. Our own article, and the CUSWE list GG12, however, I've failed to find it there. Moff Harlow is said to be the ruler of this sector, and CUSWE sources him to SWAJ11. Having done some crosschecking with the only world said to be in the sector--Cadomai Prime--I think the mention might come from the Galaxywide NewsNets in SWAJ11. If you are able to check that when you have time, it would be greatly appreciated. --Eyrezer 11:11, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
    • Great. And presumably it does place Cadomai Prime in that sector? --Eyrezer 12:28, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
  • "Help me, jSarek, you're my only hope!" I want to do some work on the Ado Sector and so today I've been looking at the info that relates to it. For the life of me, though, I can't find the Ado Spine in Pirates & Privateers. Looking for those two little words is driving me crazy. I see you listed some info on it on your site. Do you have a page number for it anywhere? I've also removed from the Wookieepedia info placing Eiattu in the Ado Sector, as I've found no canon basis for this. However, it looks like Jason is placing it there from the carto thread. Any thoughts? I presume it must be new placement, which is his job, rather than an pre-existing one. --Eyrezer 04:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Block

Hey, jSarek. Could you please unblock User:87.11.0.0\16 and then re-block that username for infinite? I recently did a range block that was aimed at a known Wikia troll called, among other things, Jtv.

As seen here --> 16:07, 17 March 2008, Greyman (Talk | contribs | block) blocked 87.11.0.0/16 (Talk) (infinite, anon. only, account creation blocked) (known range for Jtv, cross-wikia troll.) (unblock)

The username is an obvious play on the range I blocked, and the troll must be using a proxy. I've just asked Wikia Staff to do a Checkuser for me, to determine the range that was now used, so I can take care of it. I thought I'd ask you, instead of simply doing it myself, due to a recent policy --> Wookieepedia:Administrative autonomy. Thanks for your time, jSarek. Greyman(Talk) 00:39, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I was trying to source this image. At least going by the character's article, the image doesn't appear to be from the CCG. Can you shed any light? --Eyrezer 09:39, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Hey, if you have time, could you look up the Vaathkree Trade Corridor for me? It is meant to be in SWAJ12, but I'm unable to give any guidance as what what specific article. Our article states it is in the Inner Rim (as does CUSWE), yet our Vaathkree article claims the planet was situated on it (the planet is in the ORT). I'm guessing that the planet placement is speculation based on the name. If you could check that for me it would be much appreciated. --Eyrezer 09:40, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Mailing list

Hey, jSarek. I've set up a private administrator mailing list to help coordinate the current administrators of the site, and I am attempting to contact each administrator to get them to subscribe. You can subscribe here. My point with setting up this mailing list to get all of the administrators of Wookieepedia operating on the same page, and in a more unified fashion. Regardless of any personal differences that may exist between some members, I still feel that it is important that we are all operating on the same level, with regards to knowledge of the site, and new/upcoming stuff that is going to happen—so, basically, this is an attempt to coordinate us all in an effort to help keep us on the same page with regards to new policies, new ideas, announcements, discussions, etc. In my opinion, we're all on the same team and this will only help us to be a more organized and cohesive working unit—even more so than we currently are. I've already spoken with a few admins via IRC, and they have liked my point of this whole thing, and have thus signed up—I would really appreciate it you could do likewise :) Any questions about this, you know where you can reach me. Cheers, Greyman Jan.png (Talk) 15:57, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Mission to Goratak III

You mentioned on Talk: Mission to Goratak III that you owned Star Wars Miniatures Battles. There's a problem with the timeline for that battle I noticed: we've got it after the Battle of Hoth, which seems to be way too late for Jodo Kast to be involved. Can you check that? I can't provide much help as to where it will be mentioned in the book, only that it is related to the Ho'Din Ort Hoogra-D'En. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. --Eyrezer 06:45, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Great! I'm currently trying to take Atrivis sector to FA, and in the BTS I'm going to include a carto section with some comments on other possible planets in the sector. I don't want it to be too much OR though. Would you mind having a look at that section? It's here. --Eyrezer 10:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
      • Indeed. That's why I've tried to keep it quite tight. If I was Jason, there would be a bunch more worlds that could arguably be placed there, but less clearly. There is an extent, however, to which I'd say that carto is unique in allowing some of this. I guess we will find out what is acceptable when I nom it :p --Eyrezer 11:13, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

  • I am terribly sorry, but I am afraid I must disagree with your hue-related judgement with much vigour. As Miltin Takel's hair shows, brown is far lighter than this particular colour, which, as you can see with Josef Grunger, is so plainly black.--Mith'raw'nuruodo 22:22, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Kol Skywalker Article

Hi... there's some unregistered user constantly undoing any change made to Kol Skywalker. I've added an image of Kol as a force ghost but he keeps undoing changes, even removing new information. I'm telling you this before it comes down to some edit war.--Gonzalo84 05:18, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

He's pretty much said that he'll keep undoing any change we make because he thinks what we have added is (and I quote him) "crap". Hardly a good attitude for an admin.--Gonzalo84 04:08, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Legacy

Hey jSarek! Wow, thanks for replacing those Legacy images. I actually realized that I had simply resized, without cropping, a few of them after I had finished making the characters section, such as Sia Fel, and I had planned to fix it this week; my editing of both the Legacy and Dark Times articles has been very slow-going due to work and other summer stuff, so I actually feel pretty bad having my inuse template on them when my editing is very... gradual. I'll remove them soon; I really just want to add short bios to the character sections and then leave it at that. But yeah, thanks so much for doing that, and sorry again for re-uploading images. This is Jeff Ferguson, by the way. Menkooroo 00:03, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh! And thanks for adding the info to the files. I actually can't believe I didn't add the licensing to them; another fact that I realized afterwards, but I actually couldn't figure out how to edit the images. It's a good thing that there are knowledgeable Wookieepedians around --- I knew that I couldn't make the Legacy and Dark Times articles as good as the KOTOR one by myself, but I thought that I could give them a push in that direction and hope that others would continue with them. I MAY get around to doing Rebellion too... maybe. :^)

Also, I think I may have re-uploaded some images in the Dark Times characters section without cropping them, but I'll get around to fixing that this week too. I do know how to resize images, mostly because I've been getting a lot better at this whole article-editing thing as I've been coming along. Cheers! Menkooroo 00:12, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Redirects

Tiss'shar

Hey, JS. I just wanted to make sure you caught my last comment on the FAN page for Tiss'shar before it was archived. I bulleted the races field in the infobox, but it kind of stretched it all out a bit, so I wasn't sure if you liked that better, or just listing them by commas as you had them. Like I said, throw it back to how it was if you like that better. Nice job on the article. :) Toprawa and Ralltiir 23:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Changed to concrete wording of newer source, and added brief note about the variety seen in Empire 31 to the BTS section. jSarek 11:15, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
    • Okiedoke, I also changed the accompanying infobox wording to reflect this change, and alphabetized and bulleted the races. Feel free to tinker with that if you don't like it. Toprawa and Ralltiir 23:55, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Hmm, yeah I had considered that too when I was changing it. I looked at the way each was listed and described in the actual article, and I wasn't exactly sure why they were in that order, save of course, the first two. If UAA does indeed list them in that order, it would seem to me also that that's most likely done for a reason, and could probably be listed that way in the article. Ultimately up to you. Toprawa and Ralltiir 00:25, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Images

Hey jSarek --- I'm unsure whether or not non-admins can delete images; I'm pretty sure they're not, and if so, I was wondering if you could delete some for me? I redid the characters section of the Dark Times article, and there are a few mugshots I uploaded a few months ago that are just copies of already existing images. They can be found at: File:Bomo-mugshot.JPG File:Jennir-mugshot.JPG File:Kkruhk-mugshot.JPG File:Crys-mugshot.JPG File:Heren-mugshot.JPG . If so, thanks so much! Menkooroo 16:28, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Fjodin asks - Why delete my gifs?

Why you deleted my gifs? I spend a lot of time to extract models of Sith Fighter, Republic Fighter and G-Wing from KOTOR and made an animation? Please usk!

  • They're not allowed on this Wiki, it's as simple as that. Making a still frame from the extracted file is preferable. VT-16 12:04, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Speculative edits

I didn't make a speculative edit on Hammertong. Look at the discussion page.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Hammertong

What happened was I was sourcing the page (all the info was already there) and added the last paragraph's source as being Specter of the Past or whatever it was. On the talk page, someone said that that paragraph was just fanon, so I removed the paragraph completely. I didn't write that.

SW question

I was recently told by (I think) a non-admin that Wookieepedia should not include articles on codes such as "The sunsets on Coruscant are lovely." I don't mean out-of-universe game cheats, I mean in-universe game passcodes. This struck me as rather odd, since this is part of the universe as much as callsigns like "Red Leader". Curious what you and other admins think on this.

On a non-SW note, you may recall I once told you I could not distinguish one hadrosaurine dinosaur from another due to their lack of dinstinctive headwear. I am glad to say I have discovered that even professional scientists have this problem, as evident from this quote by Weishampel and Horner in "Hadrosauridae," The Dinosauria, p 535: "The most distinctive morphological characters of hadrosaurids are cpncentrated in the the skull. Taxonomic information has been harder to extract from the postcranium." So I am in good company.;) JustinGann 07:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Just to butt in, I think it was myself who noticed the creation of these articles and brought it to the attention of an admin in IRC, but I'd like to point out that, unless this is a different situation, it wasn't for correct codes but incorrect ones that the player could choose from. These are pretty pointless, and they are game mechanics. Correct codes should be okay, imo at least. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 12:09, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Fair Use issues

On the Sullustan Technician and Nova-class ship pages, there was a bit of a back-and-forth on editing of the "licensing=Fairuse" line. You changed it to something else, I followed your lead and changed another page to fit it, but JMAS changed it back. The conversation as to why is here: User_talk:JMAS (see Fair use issues) --Bantha68 21:50, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Elvis Trooper deletion

Hi JSarek, thanks for the notification about this. I know that you ultimately weren't the one to delete the article but I can't seem to find the so-called "talk page" mentioned on its trash compacter page. Plus, I've read your comments on previous articles and found you to be a fair and even-handed guy. I was just hoping to voice my concern over the removal of the Elvis Trooper article, which seemed sudden and uncalled for -- almost as if it were done to justify the hasty deletion of the Maul Stanley article. Personally, I feel that both individuals are notable and worthy of inclusion here, but I feel just awful that the Elvis Trooper article has now been removed. Besides the fact that the guy has become so well-known and well-liked over the years, he has earned a lot of recognition from official sources like StarWars.com and Sideshow Collectibles, who went so far as to create a bust of the Elvis Trooper to raise money for cancer research. Unlike most fans who come up with their own character and parade around at conventions for fun, the Elvis Trooper has become an entertainer in his own right and has taken his creation to the next level. As I understand "fanon," it refers to characters and situations created by fans to co-exist with established characters and situations in fictional settings. This is not the case with the Elvis Trooper; he is a real-world entity and as such would presumably not be bound by this restriction. He would also seem to meet the requirements set forth on the "Notability of fan projects" page, having been in existence for a sufficient amount of time and having received covered by mainstream media outlets. All of which can also be said of Maul Stanley, as well (having been in existence since 2002, having appeared in the Triumph the Insult Comic Dog DVD and whose activities have been reported on by StarWars.com and KissOnline.com, among numerous others).

Anyway, I'm not sure if you have the power to do anything about this but I just wanted to state my disappointment over the removal of the Elvis Trooper article, since it seems to have been an unfortunate casualty of the removal of the Maul Stanley article (both of which genuinely seem to be deserving of inclusion here at Wookieepedia, per the posted guidelines and the reasons stated above). Should further documentation of the accomplishements of either be required, I will be happy to provide. Thank you very much for your consideration and thanks again for the notification.Cybercomic 16:33, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Concern

I don't think they had individual articles, but they linked to sections of the Page of anonymous vehicles, which had pics and text; this seems to have disappeared. I am not trying to be nonsensical or to vandalize, or shed blame, or whatnot, I am just concern information has been lost due to the apparent decision to delete the anonymous vehicles page without making sure all the vehicles in it were given individual articles. As a result, pictures and text appear to have been lost. For example, I am pretty sure there was a pic and text about Stark's personal ship on the anonymous vehicles page, and now that is a redlink. Do you know if the anonymous vehicle page actually was moved, or if it is renamed? My main concern as that when the anonymous vehicles page was deleted, several images would have been consequently left "orphaned", and IIUC the current policy is to delete orphaned images.JustinGann 04:51, 23 October 2008 (UTC) thx. Too bad about the pics. I shouldn't have gone on wiki-vacation and left it unmonitored so long. I think the image deletion policy needs some revision. Orphaned pics shouldn't be deleted as a first step, only after we are sure articles exist with pics about the item they represent. Otherwise, we are shooting ourselves in the collective foot;)

  • Understood. I'm not saying the policy should be discarded, merely revised and used with some discretion.JustinGann 03:21, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Prime

John, you didn't give me enough time to create a disambig for Prime in addition to the title. Rather than the previous editor trying to redirect it to just Raxus Prime, the disambig would link to all planets with the suffix Prime. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:39, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

  • I'd be tempted to put that at Prime (disambiguation), but if you think it's better served at Prime, go ahead and revert my move. jSarek 07:41, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Well before I had a chance to check this page again, I had created the page without the (disambiguation) addition and recreated Prime (title). If you feel the need to move the disambig to one with that name, and then move Prime (title) to Prime, then by all means go for it. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:32, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Query

Pardon me for questioning your decision, but I have a query about the block you gave to 213.106.90.24. He's been blocked for violating 3RR, while he only reverted three times in a 24-hour period - I know a little leeway has been introduced allowing admins to block for violating the spirit of the rule rather than the letter, but INAN reverted the same amount of times - three - within the same period (if the last paragraph of Wookieepedia:3RR#Detail applies). Also, the anon was blocked for a week when the 3RR page says that violators can be blocked for up to 24 hours (it being his first block). I just thought I'd point it out. . .I'm not involved, but I noticed it and felt like commenting. *shrugs* -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 14:55, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

I run The Lightsaber Wiki and have a question for you, do you know if Template:Star Wars was put into my wiki, could I be able to change it so that it's not copying Wookiepedia's? or can you make one for me and send me the source code or email me. My email is cmrnarsenault@gmail.com or you could just use my user mail.

Thanks,

P.S. If you could also make me some infobox templates or just edit mine for me cause I really don't know how to do that yet, Thanks.
