Please do not remove content from your talk page
Even if it's just the welcome message, please do not remove content from your talk page unless you are archiving it. DolukTalk 08:35, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Help:Archiving_talk_pages reads "...each user may choose alternate means of archive their own talk page, including choosing not to archive at all, but to instead remove old messages." I choose not to archive at all, but to instead remove old messages. I don't get where everybody's coming from telling me how to run my page. Glaug-Eldare 19:20, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- That's a page automatically transferred over from Wikia's central help pages. Wookieepedia policies are different, because we got tired of users removing warnings (usually the {{msg-fanon}} template) and continuing to break policies. Personally, I really don't care if people remove the welcome message, so I'm not going to tell you to put it back. —Silly Dan (talk) 19:31, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- The general consensus in Forum:SH Archive/Removing welcome messages was that removing welcome templates was acceptable. Why anyone would want to I don't know, but why anyone would get worked up about it is a better question. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 19:36, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry Acky and Glaug, didn't see that SH discussion. DC 19:38, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Umm, actually there really wasn't a consensus in that SH discussion. Personally, I only ever warn people not to remove content from their talk pages in order to keep them from running afoul of the admins. I don't really care if people remove messages (although I kind of think it's a bad idea to remove your welcome message anyway, since there's so much useful info in it). I have to say, though, Glaug's right about what the help page says. Is there any way to change it so that it gives Wookieepedia's policy on the matter instead of the general wiki policy?
