  • Please stop uploading images without following the instructions. Failure to do so, may result in a block from an administrator.—Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 22:31, February 3, 2012 (UTC)
    • You've been blocked for one day to properly heed the rules for file uploads. I seriously have no idea what you were trying to do. If those are your own images, then they are fanon and do not belong here. If you're using the self-GFDL license tag just for fun, you're falsifying licensing information, which is not allowed. If you decide to upload more files when your block expires, don't do what you did now. 1358 (Talk) 22:33, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

Imperial rank images

Before uploading masses of images, please take the time to see if there is an existing image that could fulfil the same purpose. In some cases, such as File:2Blue4RedConanAntonioMotti-ANH.jpg, the images you uploaded were simply poorer quality, different crops of File:Motti-anh.jpg|existing images. Thank you, nayayen★talk 11:32, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

  • I'd like to reinforce this, having just tagged 8 out of your 24 uploads as duplicates (and even then, some others were just more specific crops). It's obvious that, for some, you are just taking the current image and resizing it to 400x300px. There is no reason that I can see to do this. Again, please check to see if there is an existing image before uploading a new, generally poorer quality, version. nayayen★talk 11:49, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

If you examine the newly inserted Prettytable at Rank insignia of the Galactic Empire you can see the purpose of the upload. They are not poor quality. There is though a focus and zoom on the rank insignias. And there is a reason for the 400x300px as you can see.--Davidvcsandersen 12:05, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

  • That some of them are or aren't poor quality is debatable, but even then, there really is no need to upload a marginally different crop of an existing image when the current one would work just as well. I understand that you want the images to focus on the rank badges, but if a user can't see them well enough then they simply need to click on the image to see a larger version of it. For some of your uploads, example, there was a lot of extra content in the background which you cropped out where it does make sense, hence why I didn't tag them as duplicates. As for making them all the same size, you can work around this by using a little bit of math and working out the width needed to make all images the same height (in this case, 154px). Compare your version using all 400x300px images with this version I did (and then reverted for the sake of not wanting to get into a conflict) using the original ones. The spaces at the sides of some of the images with different proportions is totally acceptable. Hopefully you can see where I'm coming from on this. Thanks, nayayen★talk 13:35, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
    • I appreciate you taking the time to show how using existing pictures could have worked out. Your version uses existing pictures that have mostly been cropped to “pass-port” format portraits. I would think they were uploaded for use in the character infoboxes. I do not see that this format fits the rank insignia page. My version using the new uploads, are cropped to fit and focus on the rank insignia as well as showing the actual person wearing it. Comparing your version and my version, I still see the old pics more fitting an Infobox and not the Prettytable. Also there is a notable quality difference.--Davidvcsandersen 16:11, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

X-Wing questions.

Hi.

I noticed you were the one who uploaded the images relating to ranks in Star Wars: X-Wing. As such, I have a question to ask regarding some things on the uniform screen that depicted his ranking, missions finished, and campaigns completed.

Can you give me the names of the ribbons that were on his uniform (you know, those 36 rectangular multi-colored patterns just above his medals) as well as the names of the badges on his sash (you know, the 18 two-set patches with multiple colors plus the three large ones near the top of the sash that depicted an X-wing, a Y-wing, and an A-wing), assuming of course they even have an official name? I was thinking of doing an article on the specific ribbons and patches, that's why I need to know. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 00:36, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

  • I am sure they all the medals have names or at least a little info that pops up when mouse-over. But I don't have the game installed on my win7 pc right now. I don't have the time to install and take screenshots at the moment, but I am sure you can get all the info by installing a version of X-Wing, use a little pilot editor/creator program (if a super ace pilot with all missions done is not installed by default), and use "Fraps" to take some screenshots of the info. The pilot editor/creator should also let you single out a single medal on the uniform for screenshots ... if that is what you want. All assuming you got the X-Wing game of course!? --Davidvcsandersen (talk) 14:33, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
