Bob Vitas - CUSWE Owner and Operater since 1991

Welcome to my Talk Page!

Hello! You'd think by now that I'd have my page fixed up, but what can I say. Slow and steady wins the race...

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! By the way, you should always sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Senate Hall, visit our official IRC channel, or ask me on my talk page. May the Force be with you! —

And sorry for all the articles on this site which copied yours. I've fixed about ten this week, honest....—Silly Dan (talk) 19:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

New template

Hi Bob! Hey, I created a new template for you, it's a little less tedious that the current one. You can use it from now on if you like. Don't worry about converting the old templates. Cheers!

CUSWE

  • Hey, I've always been a big fan of your site, especially before this one was started! Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Audience Chamber) 17:57, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Hey, ditto with what Ataru said. Your site and TFN actually got me started on here. You guys have done a great job over there. —Xwing328(Talk)

CIV Proposal

  • Bob, please check up on Wookieepedia:Celebration IV, especially the proposal. I tried to do what I could with it, but it needs to be sent in soon. I've asked JSarek to do that, hopefully he'll see it. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Audience Chamber) 20:34, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Hi Bob, I'm not sure how soon you'll get this, but I'd like you to know that we're trying to move forward with all of the C4 preparations. We plan to have a banner at the table and pamphlets to distribute, and I'd like to include you and the CUSWE in these designs if you have any ideas. Also, if you have the means to acquire computer(s) and/or a projector for use at the table, that would be superb! Please let me know if you have any comments, ideas, etc. Thanks! —Xwing328(Talk) 16:41, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Manning the CIV Table

  • This is the section where you can let me know who is available when, so that I can put together a master schedule for the encyclopedia table at Celebration IV. It looks like we'll have to staff the table for up to 9 hours each day, with probably a little slop at the start and finish to get things set up and torn down. So, think about staying at the table for 3-hour shifts. As mentioned in the Table sign-up section of the CIV page, if you sign up here, it will be considered a commitment to show up and man the table. We don't want to get dinged for not having someone at the table at all times, nor do we want to keep people longer than necessary... there's too much to see and do! --Bobvitas 13:03, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Has a preliminary schedule of events for CIV been posted anywhere yet? I'm hesitant to commit to a specific time block before knowing when events most important to me will be happening. jSarek 00:40, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

            • Okay, signed up for Thursday. Sorry I can only do a 1/2 shift Friday afternoon. The latter part is my reserved Celebration Store time. Hopefully after looking over the schedule some more, I can find some additional spots to sit in with people. -- Ozzel 08:56, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
              • It was very nice meeting you guys at CIV (even though I didn't do much more than set around and nod while "working" at the Wook booth, LOL!). Unfortunately, I could only be at the convention for three days, but it was fun while it lasted! Adamwankenobi 06:35, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
                • I didn't even see you there Adamwan. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:44, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps an odd question?

  • Hi! This may seem an odd question, but I'm wondering if you could help me prove a hunch that Shane Willians/Sean Dix used the Unofficial Encyclopedia as a resource when writing the Force Heretic trilogy - including, I'm rather afraid, a couple of continuity errors.
  • 1.) The idea that nine Star Destroyers comprised a significant part of the Imperial fleet, for instance, looks like it may be based on several pages at CUSWE that list the total as just thirteen in the Hand of Thrawn books (in Specter of the Past, p. 71 that number actually refers to the Braxant Sector fleet - on p. 5 the Empire as a whole is said to have 200 or so).
  • 2.) I wonder if the details about Jag Fel's backstory and the Chiss in FH3 might also have been derived from CUSWE, but I only have my memory to go on for what the old versions of the pages might have said. So, I was wondering if you had an archived version of the site from around 2001-02 that might help me look into this further.
  • Thanks! --McEwok 12:39, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
    • If so... cool! FWIW, I haven't got the foggiest if Williams and Dix used the CUSWE for their books. I'll be sure to go back and check the original entries against the sources, and adjust accordingly. --Bobvitas 02:22, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
      • Cool indeed! And I hate to ask this again, but maybe my question got lost in everything else I said: do you still have old (~2001-02) versions of entries like "Jag Fel", "Phalanx", "Chiss", and "Syndic", and if so, would it be possible for me to take a look at them? I understand completely if the answer's a "no": thanks for giving CUSWE to the world! --McEwok 10:55, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
        • I have a CD in my office with some older versions. Let me dig it up and see how far back they go! --Bobvitas 22:59, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
          • Thanks!! --McEwok 10:43, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
        • Well, the archive CD I have has Version 5.1, from 2003. That's the earliest version I have. Would that work? What can I send you? --Bobvitas 20:15, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
          • Gah! That's the version immediately after Refugee, which is where most of the stuff that I think might be CUSWE-based was used by the authors... It might still be useful, though. If you can bring up search results, a full-text search for "Chiss" would be great, but failing that, "Jag Fel", "Phalanx", "Chiss", "Syndic", and "Nuruodo". Do you need my e-mail address? And, once again -- thank you!! --McEwok 03:23, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
            • If you want all the entries with "Chiss" in them, it'll be easier to send the results to your e-mail. I can zip up the results and send them on. You can just e-mail the request to me at bobvitas at nc dot rr dot com. --Bobvitas 00:46, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey

You're the best. I'm still a big fan. - User:Graestan/sig 20:19, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Merry Christmas!

Graestan would like to wish you a Merry Christmas!

I'd like to thank you all for the friendship, guidance, and support you've given me in the past year. Were it not for people like you, Wookieepedia would not be the success it has become. Keep up the good work! -- Graestan(Talk) 18:51, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
