Draft for Forum:SWTOR Chronology:
This page is for WP:TOR editors to share and discuss information regarding SWTOR chronology, both external and internal, and how to use those information to improve our articles. It is divided between this discussion page, and the timeline page.
Discussions
- I've started gathering what I could from Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural, and The Essential Reader's Companion, as well as several others sources.
Encyclopedia

- For future reference, this photo is from page 7 in Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia.
Draft for Forum:SWTOR Chronology/Timeline:
This page goal is to provide a quick rundown of verified chronological information, presented in a table. Please keep this page neat and keep comments on the discussion page.
Timeline
This table should contain both external and internal events in relation to SWTOR. Each events must be referenced. Please, before adding any date/event here, check the source to make sure it explicitly state the date. Any correlation must be explained in detail in a note.
| Year | Event | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 36,453 BBY | Tho Yor Arrival[1] | Start of the TYA calendar[2] |
Notes and references
- ↑ Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi 0

Galactic History on The Old Republic's official website (article) (backup link) dates the Tho Yor Arrival, as described in Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi 0, to the year BTC 32,800 of the calendar based on the date of the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant. Since the difference between that calendar and the Galactic Standard Calendar—based on the date of the Battle of Yavin—was 3,653 years per the reasoning here, the Tho Yor Arrival must have taken place in the year 36,453 BBY of the latter dating system. Therefore, the difference between the Galactic Standard Calendar and the dating system based on the Tho Yor Arrival that is featured in Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void must be 36,453 years.

Notes (per release order)
The New Essential Chronology (2005)
- Jedi Order tenets originating from Tython. (vague)
- Tython is where Force users harnessed a positive energy called the Ashla
- Opponents: those who hungered to wield the Force for personal power (vague: not specifically identified as the same group, nor Bogan/Dark-side users)
- Force Wars described as exhausting conflict
- Jedi said to be established AFTER Force Wars by Force users of Tython, also called "Tython Jedi" in text.
- "Jedi Forge" tradition (initiation ceremony) > channeling Force energy into metal swords (supernatural degree of sharpness and strength)
- Mention of later "threat from beyond their world", offworld technology leading to evolution of Jedi forges (able to "freeze" laser beam (> the ancestry of lightsaber)
- Proactive member of Tython Jedi going out in the galaxy to fight oppression, becoming Jedi Knights, with a school of philosophy on Ossus
- Light/Dark side side concept only described as such on Ossus (+living/unifying Force)
- Bogan name for Dark-side users in Tython lore
The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia (2008)
- Believed to be first conflicts between followers of light vs dark-side (more defined than NEC) "followers of Ashla"
- Error in text: "Ashla energy field" then "this power for personal gain" > doesn't make sense if you call it Ashla first...
- Force Wars described as exhausting conflict (same as NEC) for planet's population and resources
- Mostly rewording of NEC

- News of the release of Timeline 1: Treaty of Coruscant (Galactic Timeline)
Galactic Timeline1 on The Old Republic's official website (backup link)
- Page of the Galactic timeline flash display and video, introducing the BTC datation
- Timeline 18: The Force War on Tython entry, dated BTC circa 22 140, reading: "Several Tythonian scholars began using their knowledge of the Force to pursue power. A conflict ensued which destroyed Tython." (Note: first date, first time a cataclysm is indirectly mentioned, also incorrectly use singular Force War)
- Timeline 17: The Jedi Order is Established entry, dated BTC circa 22 130, reading: "Peace-minded scholars and monks who survived the explosive force war on Tython relocated and established the Jedi Order." (very vague, doesn't state that the conflict itself ended in 22130 BTC)

The Essential Atlas (August 2009)
- First depiction (Chris Trevas' art, but can't source it...)
- Very clear definition: Disciples of the light side (the Ashla) vs followers of the dark side (the Bogan)
- using metal-bladed swords, renforced with the Force, then later first lightsabers after offworld visitors shared their tech (vague, but kind of changed the chronology of events)
- proactive Ashla warriors leaving Tython, following offworlders home along hyperroute erased by "Deep Core's churning stars
- "those crusaders became the Jedi Knights" > Ossus
The Jedi Path (2010)
- New depiction
- Rewording of previous sources
The Old Republic (2011)
Tython
Star Wars: The Old Republic — Codex: "Tython"
- "Tythonian warriors and scholars developed a unique mystic and martial phylosophy while studying the Force."
Jedi Consular
Star Wars: The Old Republic — Jedi Consular Mission: "The Path of a Jedi" on Tython
- Flesh raiders threatening ancient holograms ("may be records f the founders of the Jedi")
- Holograms:
- Master Garon, founder of the Jedi Order, galactic peace/ending war accros the galaxy as goal since the beginning, proponent of calm emotions, self-defense ("founding principle of civilization"). But accept that offense might be necessary when used to defend those weakers than oneself, while acknowledging the consequence it will have on oneself and on history.
- Master Cala, was there when the Jedi Order was founded. Proponent of justice, without interfering/blinding emotions (fear, favor, mercy, sorrow, outrage), allowing fairness and honesty. She warn against hasty decision and their consequences, as it "may affect strangers millions of light-years away").
- Master Ters, "keeper of the histories." Jedi Order founder and chronicler. Saw that the Jedi became guardians of knowledge and secrets, safeguarding the wisdom of the galaxy. He is the most traveled of the founder."I saw, heard, dreamed." For him, Jedi were to dispel ignorance, understand other cultures and share that understanding to others.
