- "The Tirra'Taka."
"You know its name?"
"An old Serennian legend. The dragon that holds the world together." - ―Dooku and Lene Kostana
The Tirra'Taka was a female reptilian dragon that lived on the planet Serenno. In ancient history, users of the dark side of the Force captured the Tirra'Taka and corrupted it to use in battle. The people of Serenno fought back, and the Tirra'Taka broke free but got trapped underneath the surface of the planet, becoming a Serennian legend, in which it supposedly held Serenno together. When the young Jedi initiate Dooku visited Serenno, the Tirra'Taka sensed the Force within him and awoke, causing groundquakes. Many years later, Dooku controlled the Tirra'Taka to help overthrow his brother Count Ramil, but was forced to kill it when the creature became uncontrollable.

Early life
- "What is that?"
"The Tirra'Taka? Just another legend. 'The dragon that holds the word together…'"
"It's beautiful" - ―Dooku and Jenza after seeing the carving of the Tirra'Taka
According to a legend, the Tirra'Taka held Serenno together.
While she was living beneath the planet's crust, the Tirra'Taka fell asleep and remained in that state for several years.[1]
Around 90 BBY,[3] during a celebration on Serenno, Jedi Initiate, Dooku and his sister Jenza went inside the Great Assembly House, a building that housed the Planetary Council of Serenno, where Dooku saw a carving of the Tirra'Taka. The Initiate was captivated by the beauty of the beast, and he walked towards it despite Jenza's warnings. The Tirra'Taka felt the Force within Dooku and awoke from her sleep. Dooku heard the roar of the Tirra'Taka in his head, and the ground started shaking. As Dooku touched it, a strong bellow made him scream in pain, and the Great Assembly began to collapse on them. Dooku and Jenza, however, were later rescued by Jedi Grand Master Yoda, who used the Force to shift the debris that prevented the two younglings from moving.[1]
Dooku's visions and the invasion
- "We need to make contact with her."
"Contact? You want to bond with it?"
"As you taught me all those years ago. One mind. Two bodies." - ―Dooku and Jenza
Sometime later, in 88 BBY,[3] Dooku and fellow Initiate Sifo-Dyas broke into the Bogan Collection, a prohibited section of the Jedi Archives, located in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. There, Dooku saw an object made of metal. By looking at it, he felt the same way he had felt when he looked at the carving of the Tirra'Taka. Soon after, he heard the roar of the beast and saw the Tirra'Taka with the wings outstretched, looking at him in a menacing way. Dooku Force pushed the image of the creature but wounded Sifo-Dyas by mistake. They were soon later rescued by Jedi librarian Quist.[1]
In 42 BBY,[2] during the invasion of Serenno, Jedi Masters Dooku, Sifo-Dyas, and Lene Kostana traveled to Serenno to try to save the planet from some Abyssin invaders. While fighting against the invaders, a powerful groundquake created a chasm in the ground, and Kostana and Dooku fell into a cave. Since Kostana broke her arm, the two Masters tried to figure out a way of escaping the cavity. Kostana and Dooku, however, were interrupted by the growl of the Tirra'Taka, and the beast burst through the cave wall. Dooku assured Kostana that the Tirra'Taka was not dangerous, despite being strong in the dark side of the Force. The two Masters connected with the beast using animal bond, a Force power that Kostana had taught Dooku years ago, and they saw the beast's past. The connection was interrupted by Sifo-Dyas, who was trying to contact Dooku via comlink asking for backup in the battle against the Abyssin. Dooku left the cave, asking Kostana to remain there in order to keep the Tirra'Taka calm.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Tirra'Taka first appeared in the audiobook Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott and published in 2019. Dooku: Jedi Lost is audio-only,[1] but Scott revealed the correct spelling of the name in a Twitter post.[4] The same spelling was used in the script release of the audiobook.[5]
