i love Star Wars, comic books, marvel and Harry Potter. I love the original and prequel trilogy, and I hate the sequels. I live in South Africa, and uh yeah.

My prophecy of the Star Wars fandom
So lets start from the beginning, The balanced era ( 1977-1999) : Star Wars: A new hope is released, it become a worldwide sensation. 3 years later in 1980 the superior sequel and what many call the best film, The empire strikes back, is released, and fans of the franchise are thrilled. Then, in 1983, Return of the Jedi is released, fans didn’t get everything they wanted, but the film was satisfying enough.
16 years later, in 1999, the first film in what will later be called the prequel trilogy, is released. The phantom menace causes outrage from the fan base because of its bad acting and overuse of CGI. This is the start of what I will call, The divided dark era (1999-present day) The fans, 3 years later would get the phan menaces sequel, Attack of the clones, that was a better sequel, but just fed the fire fuel. Then 3 years later in 2005, Revenge of the sith was released, ripping the fan base in half. Some call it one of the best Star Wars films. Others call it one of the worst.
Then in 2012, Disney bought Lucasfilm, being leaded by Kathleen Keneedy. In 2014, Kathleen Kennedy declared the extended universe ( comics, games, books ect) non canon, outraging fans. In 2015 The force awakens ( the first film in the sequel trilogy) was released, and generated $2 billion at the box office, the most money ever for a Star Wars film. Then in 2016, Rogue one a Star Wars ( called the most respected Disney star Wars film) released. But something went wrong. In 2017, Rian Jonson‘s Star Wars: The last Jedi released, sparking hatred in the whole fanbase. The fan base was furious with the film. In 2018, Disney released Solo: A Star Wars story, Hated by the fanbase even more. In 2019, The rise of skywalker, called the end of the skywalker saga. It still fueld the fire of outrage, and devided the fanbase even more. The fan base remains torn apart today.
My theory is that the new Disney films should bring balance to the fandom, but if it fails, the fandom is truly lost,.Slowly, this generation will lose interest in the disney saga, and then Star Wars in general.
And, after a while, a new generation will come and will find the ruins of the fandom. Mostly the people still clinging to the corpse of the OT
