The ur-diamond,[1] also known as the Nothoiin-system diamond,[3] was a type of valuable diamond[2] that was mined on the crystalline moon of the planet Nothoiin[1] of the Outer Rim Territories' Anoat sector.[2] Ur-diamonds were the principal export of the Nothoiin system,[1] and Nothoiin was famous for them.[2] The goods that the members of the Merchants Guild of the Cloud City settlement of[3] the Anoat sector[2] planet Bespin traded in included ur-diamonds.[3]

Behind the scenes

The ur-diamond was originally created by Christopher Kubasik as the "Nothoiin-system diamond" and introduced in Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, a 1989 sourcebook published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[4] The diamond type was first identified as the ur-diamond in Wizards of the Coast's Star Wars Roleplaying Game supplement "Galactic Gazetteer: Hoth and the Greater Javin," which was published on Wizards.com on March 25, 2004.[1]
