This battle droid was an advanced type of battle droid used by the InterGalactic Banking Clan during the Clone Wars.
Characteristics
- "I've fought battle droids before, but the armour plating on these has been upgraded to an exceptional level..."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi
The battle droids in their shells
This model of battle droid resembled a B1-series battle droid with red photoreceptors. It was armed with a single blaster and had an armor plating which was upgraded to an exceptional level.[1]
When not in attack mode, the battle droid was encased in a gray shell that made it seem to be unarmed. When called to action, the shell opened to release the battle droid and quickly disintegrated.[1]
History
- "Oh, thank you, thank you so much. They would have killed poor ol' Quingarus if you hadn't arrived."
- ―Quingarus, to Obi-Wan Kenobi
The battle droids leaving their shells
During the Clone Wars, four of these battle droids escorted San Hill and another Banking Clan representative to the Quingarus Deluxe Droid Systems Factory, a droid factory located on a planet close to the Coruscant system. There, the two Banking Clan members threatened the factory master Quingarus, who had taken out a loan from the Banking Clan, to repay his debt by building this new type of battle droid, at the rate of forty thousand units a week.[1]
However, Quingarus refused to switch his production lines to suit their demands, complaining that his family would starve as a consequence. Hill subsequently activated the four battle droids to kill Quingarus, but the Toong was saved by the timely arrival of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had landed in the factory to get his astromech repaired. Kenobi destroyed three of these battles droids with his lightsaber and another with the use of the Force.[1]
Following the hasty departure of the two bankers, Kenobi convinced Quingarus to accept Republic aid by making an agreement to have all the Republic's astromechs maintained at his factory, thus helping him pay back his loan easily and preventing the potential production of millions of war droids.[1]
