A human^[1] individual served as a tech stormtrooper in the First Order In 34 ABY, the tech stormtrooper was part of a contingent of stormtroopers that escorted Commander Pyre and Agent Tierny to the planet Varkana in search of Resistance agents.^[2]

They electrocuted the captured Resistance BB-series astromech droid CB-23 to get her to reveal the location of the Resistance agents. After the trooper had gained access to the droid's databank, Tierny ordered them to retrieve the droid's information and then destroy her. However after Tierny left, CB-23 latched a cable onto the tech stormtrooper's backpack, electrocuting and knocking them unconscious.^[2]
