This reconnaissance vessel was a rocket-like hyperspace-capable starship. Prior to the Battle of Jakku,[2] Alliance Admiral Gial Ackbar dispatched a group of these vessels to investigate reports of an Imperial Star Destroyer near Jakku, with support from the New Republic's 77 Squadron of X-wing starfighters. In the skirmish that followed, the fighters protected the ships from TIE fighters and took out the Star Destroyer before the entire group jumped to hyperspace.[1]

In the Hyperspace Mountain Star Wars-themed overlay to Disney's Space Mountain roller coaster, the ride's sled-like rocket vehicles portrayed the unidentified "reconnaissance vessels" named by Admiral Ackbar in a video played in the attraction's queue.[3]
