―Wilhuff Tarkin and the lieutenant[1]

According to a story told by the Espirion Saan,[2] a human Galactic Empire lieutenant worked on the Death Star space station.[1] In 0 BBY,[3] while walking through one of the station's corridors holding a datapad, the lieutenant was surprised to see Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin approaching them. Having just had a vision of his late brother Gideon running through the halls, Tarkin asked the Imperial officer if anyone had passed through and ordered for the section to be searched. When the lieutenant asked for clarification about what to search for, Tarkin simply told them that he expected a report within the hour.[1]

Sometime between 21 ABY and 35 ABY,[4] Saan told the story that included the lieutenant to the human First Order defector Fry while on the moon Kef Bir.[2] The lieutenant had brown eyes, dark skin, and black hair worn tied up. Their grey Imperial officer's uniform included a rank badge, black belt, black boots, and grey kepi with an officer's disk.[1]

Behind the scenes

The lieutenant appeared in "The Haunting of Grand Moff Tarkin," a comic story[1] depicted as an in-universe tale told by Saan.[2] The story was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Ingo Römling, and published by Dark Horse Comics in the 2023 graphic novel Tales from the Death Star.[1]
