A Chiss instructor taught at the Chiss Ascendancy's Taharim Academy on the planet Naporar[1] by 19 BBY.[2] The instructor quoted the saying, "The sky is always darkest before just before it goes completely black." Both Admiral Ar'alani and Senior Captain Kiwu'tro'owmis, core name "Wutroow," had the instructor during their time at the academy. The two officers quoted the instructor's words when they were called to represent Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn" at a tribunal for his actions during an attack on the Unknown Regions Paataatus Hiveborn nation.[1]

The instructor was mentioned in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
