"Our last sarge never took us through the sewer."
―Mic[2]

A human[1] individual lived during the Imperial Era. At some point, they became a stormtrooper of the Galactic Empire.[2] By 2 BBY,[3] they had come to serve as sergeant of Task Force 99—an elite stormtrooper unit. After holding the position for years,[2] by 0 ABY,[3] the individual no longer served as the group's sergeant.[2]

In 0 ABY,[3] the man Kreel took over as Task Force 99's new sergeant. During a skirmish against the Rebel Alliance[2] that year,[3] Kreel mentally noted[2] his[4] predecessor's service, believing the group was still waiting for him to prove himself. During the skirmish, Kreel took Task Force 99 through a sewer, leading the trooper Mic to state that their former sergeant had not taken them through one. Before attacking rebels with a lightsaber, Kreel mentally noted that he suspected the unit's former sergeant could not wield a lightsaber.[2]

Behind the scenes

The former sergeant of Task Force 99 was mentioned in the twenty-first issue of the 2015 comic series Star Wars. The issue was written by Jason Aaron and published by Marvel Comics[2] on July 20, 2016.[5]

  3. 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.3 Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of Star Wars (2015) 19 and Star Wars (2015) 22 to 0 ABY. As the events of Star Wars (2015) 21 take place between the two issues, they must also take place in 0 ABY. Star Wars (2015) 21 establishes that the sergeant led Task Force 99 for years, therefore meaning they must have joined the unit by 2 BBY. The comic further states that Kreel became Task Force 99's sergeant between its events and those of Star Wars (2015) 12, which Timelines dates to 0 ABY.
