At the end of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Darth Vader led an elite clone airborne division of the 501st Legion into the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant to exterminate the Jedi Order during Operation: Knightfall.
Description
Made up of elite clone paratroopers,[1] a type of clone trooper that specialized in high-altitude drops,[3] the division was sorted under[1] the Grand Army of the Republic's 501st Legion[4] and was under the command of the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader.[1]
At least one member of the division utilized[1] specialized, heavy Phase II clone trooper armor[3] with the same blue markings as[1] the troopers of the 501st Legion.[4] The trooper was armed with[1] a BlasTech DC-15A blaster rifle and two DC-17 hand blasters.[5]
History
In 19 BBY, immediately before the end of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker—now Darth Vader after falling to the dark side of the Force—was assigned a detachment of the 501st Legion, to exterminate the Jedi found in the Jedi Temple on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant, under the orders of Vader's new Sith Master, Darth Sidious.[6] The division of clone airborne troopers, under the 501st Legion, followed Vader into the temple and eliminated the Jedi they could find, sparing none.[1]
Behind the scenes
The clone airborne division was created by Hasbro as part of their 2007 Target-exclusive line of Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collection action figures.[1]
