During the Galactic Civil War, an Imperial-controlled bathysphere was assigned to operations in the atmosphere of a Jovian gas giant. Its design included a control cabin with a wheel to steer the vessel, and an aft section where the repulsors were housed. Its hull was not rated to withstand 1,000 atmospheres worth of pressure.[1]
The smuggler Roark Garnet boarded the vessel at one point, and neutralized the crew except for a single member. The two fought for control of the vessel, until the repulsors gave out. Garnet managed to fix them, but the Imperial planned to shoot the smuggler despite having been saved by him.[1]
